Last weekend, in Appleton, we had our third PGH Freshman Showcase. I enjoy seeing the new faces of high school basketball before the season, and plenty of players at the event will make their mark on the high school season this winter. Today, we're discussing all the players from Team Ten of the 5v5 portion of the event and highlighting what they brought to the floor. We'll keep this up until we wrap up all ten 5v5 teams that played at the Freshman Showcase.

[player_tooltip player_id='1231061' first='Brooklyn' last='Viestenz']

I liked Viestenz's game and thought she was a player who excelled in every facet of the game. She rebounded the ball well on both ends of the floor and earned opportunities to run in transition when she got defensive rebounds. I thought she was a solid help-side defender and made plays on that end of the floor. She will find ways to be successful at the high school level.

[player_tooltip player_id='900148' first='Lilamae' last='Heitl']

Heitl is a physical frontcourt player who can control the area around the basket. She can play through contact on the offensive end of the floor. Defensively, she can hold her ground around the basket and make life challenging for opposing post players. Her physicality will help her become an effective player at the high school level and bring physicality to the floor whenever she earns minutes.

[player_tooltip player_id='1237561' first='Khloe' last='Hannula']

Hannula is a solid rebounder on the defensive end of the floor. That skill allows her opportunities to get out and run in transition, pushing the ball up the floor. She is a talented kid with room to grow, and she could be a player who impacts winning at a high level for a talented program. She was also among the top offensive rebounders when I watched her play in Appleton. I liked what she brought to the floor on both ends.

[player_tooltip player_id='1215870' first='Ashley' last='Vogeltanz']

Vogeltanz is a player who can handle the ball and make plays with the ball in her hands. I also loved that she was able to play multiple roles and find ways to help her team compete. She also never seemed to get sped up with the ball in her hands, and never forces the issue. She lets the game come to her and allows the defense to dictate what she'll do on the offensive end of the floor. Her approach allows her to be an effective player on both ends of the floor, and she'll fit in any kind of style a team wants to play.
