PGH TX Freshman Showcase: Team 4

It's not often that players from across the state (and outside) get the chance to compete directly against peers in their same class. Here are the freshman players from team 4 that were seizing their moment.    Ross shows toughness with and-one finishes, absorbing contact and still converting at the rim. Uses a crafty hesitation move to freeze defenders before blowing by them to the basket. Strong enough to secure her own rebound and finish plays, she consistently finds ways to capitalize on scoring opportunities.     The name says it all! Confidence shows a strong IQ by taking advantage of mismatches, posting smaller defenders and converting with an accurate turnaround jumper on the block. Stretches the floor as a confident three-point shooter, making her a versatile offensive threat. Her ability to score both inside and out keeps defenses off balance.     Harris caught my attention showing defensive instincts by reading passing lanes and flying in for timely interceptions. She plays with constant activity, setting strong ball screens and staying engaged in the flow of the offense. Her energy and awareness make her an impact player on both ends of the floor.     Nielson showed excellent court vision, delivering accurate overhand softball passes to find open teammates. Her ability to advance the ball quickly created easy scoring chances in transition.     Martinez showed a poised pro-hop to seep through the cracks and knock down the left-handed midrange jumper. In Game 2, she shifted gears and attacked the basket with relentlessness, putting constant pressure on defenders. That balance of craft and aggression makes her difficult to contain.
