Early on, Greenway looked really tough. I thought Shadow might have been too much for Greenway to handle but Greenway hung in there and even had the lead going into the 4th.
A huge player responsible for Greenway’s success was Bridget Mullings. Mullings grabbed a ton of rebounds, blocked 4-5 shots, and did damage in the post. Mullings has really improved on her mobility and overall athleticism, making her a much bigger threat and allowing her to have a bigger impact on the game. She is going to be a very dominant player here very soon!
Greenway’s Madison Kekic also had a very good night! She knocked down 15 points and shot the ball very well. Her overall game is really impressive. She is a taller guard, who can read the floor very well in addition to getting her own points.
However, despite the terrific play of Greenway, SM took the W. Shadow Mountain was led by the amazing play of Sissy Paloma. She was a lock down defender who got a lot of steals. She made some amazing passes up the court to start her teams fast break. She also weaved in and out of defenders with ease, making a dish or taking it to the basket once she got into the paint.
Zhane Jordan and Senya Rabouin also played very well! Rabouin was sick and had been overcoming a cold/fever. You could definitely tell she was not herself but she still did a lot of good things on the court despite her illness. Jordan came up with a lot of steals as well and the overall team defense is what set them apart.
Late in the 4th, the game was tied with a little over 1 minutes left. The Shadow Mountain defense really stepped up and got steal after steal after steal. This resulted in a lot of easy points and solidified the win for the Matadors.
