Classen SAS (No. 2 - 4A - 18-2) head coach James Perinovic said early in the tournament that the goal was to play against Booker T. Washington (No. 1 - 6A - 14-1). On Saturday night in front of what amounted to a home crowd for Washington at the UMAC in Tulsa, the Comets and Perinovic saw their dream come true. Within minutes, Classen's dream proved to be a nightmare for the previously undefeated Hornets of Booker T. Washington. The Comets jumped out to a 23-4 lead with a barrage of three-pointers and nearly impenetrable defense. Washington never found an answer and lost their first game of the season by a final score of 74-49.

1Q

2Q

3Q

4Q

Classen SAS

23

18

14

19

74

Booker T. All-tournament player Littlepage-Buggs ended the game with 19 rebounds to go along with 13 in the semi-final. Under the rim, Littlepage-Buggs was joined by eventual tournament MVP Madison Roberts who pulled in eight. Most of the time that either player pulled in the offensive board, 14 altogether, they scored immediately leading to double-digit points for both. [caption id="attachment_139842" align="alignright" width="300"] Photo Credit: Jason Green (Prep Girls Hoops)[/caption] Quiet Star Wyvette Mayberry is an absolute sensation with the ball in her hands. In the semi-final game of the Jenks/Union Invitational, Mayberry had 18. In the final, a combination of all-tournament player Jordan Harrison and fellow guard Morgan Kennedy slowed the Washington star down as much as could be hoped going in. Mayberry's nine points were hard-fought and nothing came easy. Even while being double-teamed, Mayberry was impressive in finding the open player and keeping her team in the game as much as possible. [caption id="attachment_139843" align="alignleft" width="300"] Photo Credit: Jason Green (Prep Girls Hoops)[/caption] Best in the State? Perinovic and his Comets wanted to face off with Booker T. Washington heading into the tournament. They leave the tournament having proven that they are an absolute force in Oklahoma 4A basketball. They are to be feared from here on out. Perinovic is not shy about the fact that his team wishes to battle the best. "We wanted that game and we wanted to be the one to beat them," said Perinovic with a big smile. As far as the number one ranking that will surely come their way after this weekend's tournament, Perinovic said that he honestly does not care about rankings at this point. "We're not really worried about number one in 4A," said Perinovic with the confidence of a coach having just beaten the best team they have played all season. "We want to be the number one in the state of Oklahoma for everything. We want to be the best team and that's what we're out to prove."
