Leading Prospects - Florien Tournament.

Florien High School was pleased to host a traditional basketball tournament from November 20-22, 2025. Participating schools included Florien High School, Many High School, Hicks High School, Evans High School, Converse High School, Leesville High School, Haughton High School, Anacoco High School, Negreet High School, and Zwolle High School. The event featured three days of continuous basketball action, and it was truly inspiring to witness the dedication and skill displayed by all the young women throughout the tournament. Many games were closely contested, and the exceptional talent in the gymnasium kept spectators on the edge of their seats, reacting to every shot, block, fast break, and impressive play. Ultimately, there could only be one victor, and The Lady Broncos of Simpson High School emerged as the Florien Tournament Champion. Congratulations, ladies. Olivia's offensive capabilities were impressive, as she was able to score from various positions. However, her ball-handling skills truly stood out. Naturally left-handed, Olivia was an excellent floor general for her team, demonstrating remarkable court vision and delivering precise passes to her teammates for open shots. Olivia also excelled in on-ball defense, consistently creating turnovers that led to scoring opportunities. She is a truly great athlete to observe in action.     [player_tooltip player_id='1143966' first='Bella' last='Hunnicutt'], a sophomore, wears number 21 for the Lady Broncos and plays as a power forward for Simpson High School. Bella is an excellent post scorer with impressive footwork, capable of effectively scoring in the paint. Her physique allows her to play with strength and physicality. Despite her post-play abilities, she also possesses good ball-handling skills and can contribute to ball-handling responsibilities, complemented by a reliable shot that enhances her inside game. Bella is also a formidable paint protector, adept at blocking shots and securing rebounds. She is able to box out with ease. Bella is a valuable asset to any team.     [player_tooltip player_id='879850' first='Annie' last='Thweatt'], wearing number 2 and playing center for the esteemed Lady Hawks of Zwolle High School, performed admirably in the paint. She demonstrated excellent rim protection, notably achieving 4 blocks in a game against Negreet. Her post-play was commendable, and she effectively executed mid-range jump shots, including a very smooth fadeaway. Annie also exhibits good ball-handling skills, court vision, and passing ability. Having observed her performance on multiple occasions, her current skill set and contributions are consistent with expectations. To further enhance her game, Annie would benefit from developing greater physical strength in the paint, as she can sometimes be moved by opponents. At this juncture, Annie is a valuable role player, offering reliable contributions to any team.     [player_tooltip player_id='1350362' first='Sariah' last='Shannon'], a junior wearing number 14 for the Lady Buccaneers of Haughton High School, was a standout player on her team. Sariah demonstrated exceptional skill in the paint, showcasing impressive footwork, effective post-ups, and strong finishes with her left hand. While Sariah is capable of scoring from various positions on the court, her inside game was particularly remarkable and, in my opinion, the best among all players in the tournament. Her team would benefit from providing her with more opportunities with the ball inside feed the beast. Although Sariah may sometimes be undersized in the paint, this does not deter her; she plays fearlessly and consistently puts in a strong effort. She is undoubtedly a valuable asset to any team.     Ava David, a senior at Annacoco High School, wearing number 15 for the Lady Indians, demonstrated exceptional shooting skills throughout the tournament, consistently making three-point shots from well beyond the arc. In one particular game, she achieved a perfect five for five record in the first half alone. Ava is recognized as an outstanding off-ball shooter with a quick release and agile hands. Furthermore, she possesses the capability to drive to the basket, draw fouls, and successfully convert all her free throw attempts.     Kyndal Bladney, a shooting guard wearing number 15 for the Lady Buccaneers of Haughton High School, made a significant contribution to her team's first game in the tournament. Kyndal displayed excellent hustle and worked diligently on both ends of the court, providing a notable spark for the Lady Buccaneers. She demonstrates good ball-handling skills and court awareness, and possesses the ability to drive to the rim. While she currently refrains from taking three-point shots, she is proficient in hitting mid-range jumpers. Perhaps with time, her confidence will grow, allowing her to successfully convert from the three-point line when necessary. Kyndal's defensive play is commendable; she actively guards the ball, forcing turnovers, and consistently hustles for loose balls, as evidenced by her two blocks.     Kaydence Hickman, a combo guard wearing number 11 for Hicks High School, is an exceptional ball handler whose advanced skills are remarkable for her age. Her court vision is outstanding, as she consistently delivers perfect lead passes to her teammates or places the ball precisely when needed. Hickman is adept at creating her own space in isolation situations, skillfully driving to the rim and finishing strongly. She poses a scoring threat from all areas of the court. Defensively, Hickman is equally formidable, demonstrating unwavering determination. She is poised to become a significant player as she continues to develop her talents.     Laroyal Hollins Jr., wearing number 4 for the Lady Tigers of Many High School, is an exceptional forward. She possesses excellent ball-handling skills and can score effectively from all areas of the court, whether it's sinking a three-pointer or driving to the basket. In one particular game, she demonstrated her prowess by making 3 out of 4 attempts from beyond the arc and converting 2 out of 3 free throws. Furthermore, she is a tenacious player on both offense and defense, consistently making significant contributions through steals, blocks, and rebounds, proving to be a valuable asset to the Many Tigers.
