The two teams played each other during the regular season for league Champions. The first match Highlands Ranch lost in over time 37-35. Highlands Ranch was able to get a win Friday night in the Coliseum to advance to the final 4. Regis jesuit and Highlands Ranch being in the Coliseum before are used to the big crowds as both teams played as hard as they could for 32 minutes. Road to the final 4 has arrived for Highlands Ranch defeating a tough team in Regis Jesuit. They did not back down despite starting off flat scoring only 5 points in the first quarter. Regis Jesuit started to come alive winning the 2nd and 3rd quarter led by [player_tooltip player_id="95125" first="Avery" last="Vansickle"] who was lighting up the floor with her ability to shoot off the dribble. Highlands Ranch had a tough assignment containing those two guards.
[player_tooltip player_id="95123" first="Payton" last="Muma"] was a player that was picking a part the defense with her ability to score any where on the court. She did not take a lot of 3’s but was efficient in the midrange, and in transition. She was the standout player for Highlands Ranch doing whatever it took to help her team finish strong. Averaging 15.3 points a game led Highlands Ranch in scoring, dishing out 7 assist, 8 out of 10 from the free throww line. Free throws wins games and she came up clutch towards the end knocking down free throws to win the game. [player_tooltip player_id="95216" first="Savitri" last="Jackson"] a fresham for Regis Jesuit had a tough assignment guarding [player_tooltip player_id="95123" first="Payton" last="Muma"] one of the top players in her glass. [player_tooltip player_id="95216" first="Savitri" last="Jackson"] a tough player that is the anchor of the defense can move her feet really well keeping the offensive player in front.
Players that stood out:
[player_tooltip player_id="95102" first="Kacy" last="Horton"] for that Falcons only with 6 points was able to create a spark knocking down 2 big 3 point shots times when Regis Jesuit would come back Horton would knock down a 3, along with her was Sara Mitchell who also knocked down 2 3’s but brought a ton of energy for Highlands Ranch from the tip until the final horn. Sara Mitchel was every where on the floor rather it was getting to the rim, or on the defensive end going after loose balls. Mitchell dropped 10 points to help boost Highlands Ranch past a tough Regis Jesuit team.
[player_tooltip player_id="95169" first="Taylor" last="Ray"] with 9 points, 2 out of 3 from behind the arc, 5 rebounds, and 4 blocked shots made it tough for players to get to the rim with her size inside. Samatha Jones for Regis Jesuit with 8 points, 7 rebounds contributed to the team working it in the inside to create an oppurutnity for the guards to score from outside. Madden McHugh a sophomore for the group was the enegery for the Regis Jesuit rather it was on the court or off the court being loud created a spark encourgaing, and being a great teammate when the team was down or up.
