Emerson Moldovan is the definition of a triple-threat player. She’s a shooting threat from all areas of the floor, forcing defenders to respect her every touch. With a shifty handle and explosive first step, she consistently creates separation and gets defenders on her heels. Emerson is also a tough, aggressive defender who competes on every possession and brings relentless energy. She’s the type of player every coach wants on their team because of her toughness, competitiveness, and willingness to do the little things.

When she decides to attack the basket, she’s difficult to keep out of the paint. She also does an excellent job of drawing help defenders before making the extra pass for an easy scoring opportunity. Her high basketball IQ allows her to make the right play without forcing the action. Emerson plays with confidence, embraces big moments, and impacts the game on both ends of the floor. Her ability to score, create for teammates, and lock down defensively makes her one of the most complete players on the court. She never takes a possession off, consistently making winning plays that don’t always show up in the box score. Emerson’s versatility and relentless motor make her a player who can change the momentum of a game at any moment.

Moldovan is the second of those two eighth graders from last season’s Pickens team. Unlike Hardin or Mitchum, Moldovan will be bringing her many hoops talents to the Red Devils of 2A Liberty. Moldovan is another FBC product. Moldovan would play in all 24 games last season for a Blue Flame team that experienced improved fortunes throughout its 2025-26 season. Pickens improved to 12 wins following a forgettable six-win campaign in 2024-25 (with no wins in region). She would average 12 points, 2.8 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 2.3 steals in 2025-26 for Pickens. Liberty has been a team in recent seasons that has played its best basketball against region foes following struggles throughout its non-region slate. Moldovan can help greatly in turning that tide for the Red Devils. 

This offseason has already been a rough one for a Pickens program that is set to move from 4A to 3A in 2026-27. Several players from last season’s Blue Flame have transferred – including Moldovan who is set to bring her hoops talents to 2A Liberty. Moldovan, an FBC product, played in all 24 games for a Pickens team that appeared to be on a resurgence last season. Moldovan averaged 12 points, 2.8 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 2.3 steals per contest in 2025-26. She was one of two from the class of 2030 that were on last season’s Blue Flame assembling.
