The past few weeks have been exciting for Coach Vic Schaefer since being named the head coach at Texas after turning the Mississippi State program into a powerhouse, I guess a couple on National Championship finals qualifies that and I couldn’t be happier for his success as we go way back, he was the assistant coach at Texas A&M for many years including the four my daughter, Sydney Colson, played there and that included four straight NCAA appearances, multiple Sweet 16’s an Elite 8 and of course a National Championship but he and assistant coach Johnnie Harris, also at Texas A&M during that time frame as well as Maryann Baker, Director Of Women’s Basketball Operations, Big 12 Sixth Man of the Year as a senior and my daughter’s roommate but just a great group of people that I truly enjoyed immensely but moving forward
[player_tooltip player_id="66122" first="Shay" last="Holle"] (Austin Westlake) #8 had already signed, so had [player_tooltip player_id="98809" first="Elyssa" last="Coleman"] (Atascocita) #14 and [player_tooltip player_id="98808" first="Precious" last="Johnson"] (Baytown Sterling) #23 and when you roll in other areas players I covered Charli Collier, Joanne Taylor and Shae Routte and since 2021 #9 [player_tooltip player_id="97624" first="Paige" last="Bradley"] (Bishop Lynch) has already committed, things were looking bright however the icing on the cake may have been former Clements star Kyra Lambert transferring from Duke, however, the candles could be lit with #5 [player_tooltip player_id="66110" first="Deyona" last="Gaston"] (Pearland) decommitting from Mississippi State and committing to Texas. Gaston is one the most electrifying players in Texas, she’s an athletic phenom and a nightmare to defend and this is huge, to say the least
