The Louisville Area will lose some very talented guards to graduation, but don't think the cupboard is bare coming into next season. There are a lot of young and talented guards just waiting to make some noise going into next season. Here are my top 8 backcourt players for the Louisville Area.

[player_tooltip player_id="88435" first="Dynastee" last="White"] - Butler - 5'8" CG (#26 in 2021)

Dynastee jumped onto the scene this past season. She will be a part of a talented Butler team next season that will compete for not only a 6th Region title, but looking to make some noise statewide. Dynastee can play either guard spot, but her strength is getting to the basket and being able to finish with either hand. She finished her Junior year averaging 12.6 ppg and 5.8 rpg while shooting 34% from behind the arc. If she can continue to improve her outside shot, her stock will continue to rise.
      2. [player_tooltip player_id="106134" first="Jaya" last="McClure"] - CAL - 5'6" PG (#9 in 2022)
Jaya is a true winner. She has helped lead CAL to back to back 2A State Titles. With a lot of talent moving on to play at the next level, Jaya will have to step her game up even more. I think she has the potential and capability to take on that challenge. Jaya is a craft point guard that can get to the basketb and can also create her own shot from the outside. She handles very well in traffic, but her best quality is that she plays hard on both ends of the court. Jaya is a tremendous on the ball defender and loves the challenge of locking people up.
      3, [player_tooltip player_id="106141" first="Emma" last="Egan"] - Bullitt East - 5'8" G/F (#17 in 2022)
Emma was a starter for a Bullitt East team that recently made it to the Elite 8 and had a great chance at a run for a state title. Emma is a wing that has a high motor and plays all out on both ends of the court. She is able to get to the basket with her size and strength. Emma is very competitive and will be a leader going forward for the Lady Chargers. Look for her to boost her scoring from the 10 ppg during her Sophomore season. The one aspect of Emma's game that could use some improvement is her outside shooting. With her work ethic and coachability, Emma won't have a problem improving her shooting and jumping up in the rankings. She has already received an offer from Bellarmine and is getting attention from several other D1 schools.
      4. [player_tooltip player_id="164387" first="Triniti" last="Ralston"] - Sacred Heart - 5'7" PG (2023)
Even though only a Freshman, Triniti is already a force to be reckoned with. In her first year at Sacred Heart, she averaged 9.4 ppg while shooting 39% from deep. As an 8th grader, Triniti played at Fern Creek and led them in scoring at 15 ppg. Sacred Heart lost a lot of weapons and Triniti will be set to lead the Valkyries. With her ability to score and run the show, look for Triniti to continue to be one of the best players in the class of 2023.
      5. [player_tooltip player_id="106147" first="Amaya" last="Asher"] - Central - 5'7" PG (#26 in 2022)
Amaya has good size and strength for a point guard. She has the ability to get to the basket and finish in traffic. Her outside shot has continually improved over her two seasons at Central High School. If she can continue to improve her outside game and her free throw shooting, her scoring will go up from the 14 points she averaged this past season.
      6. [player_tooltip player_id="31878" first="Daisha" last="White"] - Manual - 5'10" SF (#34 in 2022)
Daisha is an athletic wing on a very young and talented Manual team. She runs the floor with the best of them. She is active defensively and is able to rebound on both ends. Her potential is off the charts. If Daisha can become a threat from the outside, then her stock will only rise. She only attempted two 3-pointers this past season and she also needs to improve on her 53% free throw shooting. Manual will be in the hunt for the 7th Region next season and it will be the growth and development of Daisha that will take them to the next level
      7. [player_tooltip player_id="157950" first="Peyton" last="Nauert"] - Presentation - 5'6" PG (#35 in 2022)
Peyton is the epitome of a team leader. She displays a very high work ethic and definitely leads by example. As a Freshman, Peyton was second in scoring and led the team in rebounding at 7 rebounds per game. In her second season, she led Presentation in scoring (12.9) and was second in rebounding (7.9). Peyton also does a great job of getting her teammates involved with her excellent court vision.
      8. [player_tooltip player_id="88443" first="Leslie" last="Baxter"] - Butler - 5'10" SF (#34 in 2021)
Leslie is a long, athletic wing that can knock down mid-range jumpers consistently. She has improved her 3 point shot, but still needs to become more consistent. Leslie excels in running the floor and finishing the break. Butler will be a very talented team next season and with Leslie improving her game, she will continue getting noticed.
The Next 8 (alphabetical order)
[player_tooltip player_id="164399" first="Haley" last="Dillman"] - Bullitt Central - 5'9" CG (2023)

[player_tooltip player_id="88442" first="Delaney" last="Gardner"] - CAL - 5'8" SF (#66 in 2021)

[player_tooltip player_id="154504" first="Anna" last="Grace McDaniel"] - Eastern - 5'10" SG (#52 in 2021)

[player_tooltip player_id="164397" first="Desaine" last="Mhango"] - Male - 5'4" PG (2023)

[player_tooltip player_id="88439" first="Sydney" last="Raque"] - CAL - 5'11" SG - (#38 in 2021)

[player_tooltip player_id="154519" first="Jordan" last="Scroggins"] - PRP - 5'6" SG (#70 in 2021)

[player_tooltip player_id="154517" first="Destiny" last="Thompson"] - Iroquois - 5'7" SG (#65 in 2021)

JaKayla Thompson - Manual - 5'8" CG (2023)
