JV Standouts for Week One of Portland Interscholastic League

She is very tough on defense. She really crashed the boards and got after rebounds. Elena was very vocal on the court and communicated well for her teammates. Elena was great at setting on ball screens and setting up shooters for their shots. As a freshman, she brings great size with her tall 6'0 height and wide wingspan. She immediately grabs the attention of coaches and athletes in the gym. From the jump, Zara got to work this week for the Astros. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"placeholder":"Add evaluation here...","className":"text-gray-700"} --> <p class="text-gray-700">She is amazing on rebounds abc great at putting the ball right back up for a bucket. This week she was the teams leading rebounder. She grabbed 11 rebounds vs McDaniel and grabbed 9 rebounds vs Jefferson. <br><br>Shes great at finding her teammates on the court and isn't afraid to dive after loose balls. She even made two assists from the ground after diving on the court. Her IQ on the court is strong and she's eager to get better. She also showed her teammates encouragement throughout the week. She is quick up and down the floor. She's great at creating space and finding her teammates to give them a shot at the rim. <br>During Jefferson's matchup vs Benson, Marrie grabbed 7 rebounds and was a big impact on defense. She stood out as the leader on the court and was great at communicating and helping her team. She was aggressive at attacking the hoop and getting to the free throw line. In her game against Benson she grabbed 5 rebounds and had 2 steals. She's a great shooter and ball handler. She hustled a lot on the court and worked really hard on defense. She was very encouraging to her teammates too and had a positive attitude throughout her performance.
