Calderon is one to keep an eye on this weekend. She has big game potential plus she’s been operating confidently through summer. Lia’s a bright spot for CBC and there should be no drop off in these upcoming games.

The CBC guard just picked up an offer from Bard. She’s been showing a lot of poise and is a confident ball handler. Lia’s stability in recent play shouldn’t be a reason for her be slept on either. She can raise her level of play in big time moments, which is a hard trait to craft.

Lia delivered a strong performance in the CIAC state game against Fairfield Ludlowe, finishing with 22 points, 11 rebounds, and 4 steals. She plays with a high motor, especially on the offensive glass where she creates second-chance opportunities. As a floor general, Lia does a great job finding teammates in their spots, and she consistently pushes the pace by running the floor hard in transition.

Lia has been a fantastic find this season. Her remarkable output along with profundity shown in pressure situations make her a must-know name in the class. In last week’s SCC showdown vs Law, Calderon put up an impressive 19 pts, 8 reb, 5 ast plus 5 stl to pick up the big win.

Lia wastes no time getting her shot off, letting it fly as soon as she sees even a small window and knocking them down at a high rate. She brings strong effort on the glass at both ends, securing defensive rebounds to end possessions and fighting for offensive boards to create extra chances. Lia handles the ball well in pick-and-roll situations, finding rolling teammates with well-timed passes while also keeping her head up when attacking to locate open shooters.

Lia capped the regular season with a dominant 35-point triple-double that included 10 rebounds, 10 assists, 6 steals, and 7 deflections, while also knocking down five threes on highly efficient shooting. She is a confident perimeter shooter who moves well in transition to find open space and get quality looks from deep. Defensively, her active hands stand out as she picks pockets, creates turnovers, and quickly pushes the pace the other way. She brings relentless hustle, willingly diving for loose balls and playing with constant energy, while also showing strong control in transition and the ability to score at all three levels, including creative finishes around taller defenders.

Lia has been featured a handful of times this month and for good reason. Calderon has been on her game recently. It’s clear she means business and in her recent game vs Amity, the film not only showed a potent multiskilled scoring threat, but a lively defender too. She was pestering weak ballhandlers, hustling to get blocks and blowing up passing lanes. Lia’s name is one that keeps circulating.

The stat-line for Calderon in a 66-42 win over Lyman Hall was considerable. She finished the game with 20 pts, hitting 4 critical 3s while also adding 7 ast, 6 reb plus 5 stl. The defense in this one stood out; it looked like Lia was able to get her hands on just about everything. Whether it was misjudgment on reads or the sheer fiery pressure she was able to bring, Calderon’s presence was felt in this one. Lia has been so impressive so far.

Lia is back mentioned again and for good reason. Her last 2 games have been big wins where she’s had a major influence in. Calderon put up 17 pts, 11 reb, 5 stl, plus 3 ast and then 11 pts,10 reb, and 4 ast to get over Sheehan to follow. She doesn’t look to be slowing down anytime soon.

Lia had herself a day with 20 pts, 9 reb, 5 ast, 4 stl in a 57-45 win against Amity. Calderon was looking like a wizard in this one; she had all the counters, showed excellent vision, set teammates up, forced turnovers on defense and made shots with a graceful touch. It’s hard not to notice the great play from Lia recently. She’s looking like one of the finer playmakers in all of ’27.
