These players were depended on their teammates to do all the small things, including playing defense, hitting open shots, and overall leaving a positive mark on the court. Being underclassmen as sophomores, these players found experience by facilitating their teams and gained their reputation as such players. South Salem’s Delany Keith is a tough, hard nosed defender for the Saxons who also doubles as an offensive threat for her team. South Eugene’s [player_tooltip player_id="158522" first="Alia" last="Harris"] is a tall, athletic, forward for her team that brings a lot of length and solidarity to their unit. You also have players like Brooklyn Strandy of West Albany that did a number of great things on the court that showed her versatility on the hardwood. Here are some of the best glue players of the class of 2022. [player_tooltip player_id="158528" first="Ava" last="Peterson"] 2022 5’5" PG Clackamas HS - Nifty guard for the Cavaliers who impacts her team in a number of ways. Defensively she is a part of the unit, fully aware of her surroundings and good instincts as she comes up with ways to get the loose ball. She is a sensational rebounder for her position as she really has a knack for grabbing the ball when it is within her reach. Good shooter than can hit the three when it is her turn and also is a selfless player that finds her teammates. [player_tooltip player_id="158527" first="Delaney" last="Keith"] 2022 5’9" SG South Salem HS - Delaney was counted on her team to provide offensive sparks through her excellent three-point shooting abilities as she is one of [player_tooltip player_id="158480" first="Hilary" last="James"]’ favorite targets. She also brings a defensive toughness to her team through her knitty and physical play. Keith is a fearless rebounder that has a serious nose for establishing her presence and coming up with the ball. She helps set the tone for her team and truly impacts the game in a multitude of ways. Mya Adams 2022 5’6" SG West Salem HS - Mya’s biggest weapon offensively is the three-pointer, which she puts herself in position for by establishing balance before she even touches the ball. Aggressive defender that seems to always have hands in the passing lanes or reaching for the ball. Fluid around the basket and can finish on the break. Plays well within West Salem’s passing oriented offense and can rebound well for her position. [player_tooltip player_id="158522" first="Alia" last="Harris"] 2022 5’10" SF South Eugene HS - Alia is a versatile player that finds herself as a defensive oriented player for South Eugene but her game also translates on the offensive end as well. She is a tall, agile forward that can both protect the rim and helps initiate their half court trap, resulting in steals. Harris finds herself running the point forward to initiate the transition offense and is good at finding her teammates in stride. Big bodied player that can score inside and has a decent touch outside. Brooklyn Strandy 2022 6’0" SG West Albany HS - Brooklyn’s teammates like to find her in stride on the three-point line, where she showcases a very fluid and linear jump shot. She is also stationed in the middle of the trap, where she is at the receiving end of a lot of steals and Strandy knows how to initiate the fast break. She can pull-up for a mid-range shot, or dump it off to a trailing teammate. Capable and willing defender due to her sheer effort. Brooklyn does all the small things for West Albany, equating to some big time results for her team. Baylee Butler 2022 5’5" PG Sprague HS - Baylee is a hard worker on the court at all times, which results in a lot of extra possessions through steals and loose balls. Baylee accelerates once she gets the ball in these situations, acting as a spark plug offensively. She has a nice consistent shot, good floater, and can make the lay-up through defenders and stick it against contact. High IQ player simply makes her team better when she is on the floor.
