The Austin and San Antonio area have a variety of talented players and I decided to combine those areas since most of the teams are in Region 4 except for Cedar Park which was one of the best teams in Region 3 and barely missed representing the Region in the 5A State Tournament losing in the regional finals to College Station in overtime however here’s a quick hitter off of the top of my head as I go trough positions from those areas [player_tooltip player_id="136314" first="Kierra" last="Sanderlin"] (San Antonio Judson) Current Rank #23 Sanderlin’s stock continues to rise after an amazing playoff run following last seasons state championship where she was the straw that stirred that drink and the drink was swirling again this season. She’s powerful and has great basketball IQ not to mention something’s you can’t teach, drive as well as the other which attacks the basket but she keeps coming at you on both ends [player_tooltip player_id="136330" first="Trinity" last="Garrett"] (Smithson Valley) Current Rank #47 Garrett just committed to South Alabama and her versatility on offense is a good reason why she’ll make the adjustment quickly because she gets it and she definitely gives it as she can take defenders off the dribble with ease but her ability to create her shot, under pressure, and knock it down consistently has always been fun to watch and the icing on the cake is that she defends well [player_tooltip player_id="136335" first="Alisa" last="Knight"] (Cedar Park) Current Rank #51 Knight’s explosiveness sets everything else up because her first step can leave defenders standing still so if you play her too close, she’s gone, if you give her some air, she elevates on the mid to long-range and knocks it down consistently but watching her either rebound defensively or play the passing lane is something to see as she dazzles in the open court [player_tooltip player_id="136360" first="Ashley" last="Corpus"] (Southwest Legacy) Current Rank #73 Corpus can ignite her teammates so many ways, either from the sheer energy she brings or if she gets going shooting the ball from the outside but she also can attack the basket from various spots on the court and she sees the floor well and that includes when she’s pushing it but she understands two things, she can get hers in the flow or just take over Evelyn Quiroz (Laredo United) UNRANKED Quiroz set it off at the South Texas Classic and one of the first things that impressed me over and over was her ability to just attack the basket strongly and finish after contact but she also showed she could create while being defended tightly and knocked down the midrange consistently 2022 [player_tooltip player_id="135362" first="Sydney" last="Love"] (Cibolo Steele) Current Rank #15 Love shows me something new every time I see her and watching her in a variety of settings has been great because she understands her role on a very talented school team and played it to a tee yet she’s an explosive scorer that can get wherever she wants and elevates over defenders for jumpers or just taking them all the way to the basket [player_tooltip player_id="135402" first="Alex" last="Neimeth"] (Cedar Ridge) Current Rank #45 Neimeth is one of the most improved players in the state, has nothing to do with that old saying" the best thing about freshmen is they become sophomores" it’s more of the fact that she elevated her game because she realized what she was working with and I saw that before high school. She plays within herself and understands when to just take over but she fills up a stat sheet nicely scoring multiples ways as well as getting steals and rebounds [player_tooltip player_id="135397" first="Sierra" last="McDermed"] (San Antonio Johnson) Current Rank #53 McDermid creates off the dribble very well and this gives her options because she shows a variety of moves that can get her to the rim easily as well as hit the midrange while defenders are hanging on her but her range goes beyond the arc and she doesn’t force it while being pressured yet on the flip, she applies pressure from the defensive end 2023 [player_tooltip player_id="96133" first="Aysia" last="Proctor"] (San Antonio Clemens) Current Rank #15 Proctor wasn’t a hard Gamble when I caught her healthy because when you’re young and you understand how to let the game come to you, that in itself is big but her unselfishness didn’t go unnoticed as she showed me a complete game pre-high school. Nice jumper, she gets it off with ease from mid to long but her athleticism enables her to get to the rim and finish acrobatically
