Watchlist: 5A Class of 2021

With the 2019-20 season in the rearview, the focus is now on what’s ahead. There are a lot of talented players who will be stepping on the court as seniors this coming winter, many of whom have yet to commit to universities. Here is a list of a few radar-worthy incoming seniors: [player_tooltip player_id="116758" first="Timiya" last="Guevara"] – Denver South Guevara completed her junior season as the class leader in scoring (22 ppg) and assists (6.5 apg), while finishing fourth in double-doubles with a total of nine. This dynamic point guard led the Rebels to a 19-5 season that ended in the second round of the playoffs. PGH Colorado’s 12th-ranked junior was named first team all-conference in the Denver Prep League. With the performance that she gave as a junior, Guevara’s senior season should be one for the books. [caption id="attachment_145639" align="alignright" width="261"] [player_tooltip player_id="95126" first="Sydney" last="Bevington"][/caption][player_tooltip player_id="95126" first="Sydney" last="Bevington"] – Ralston Valley Bevington was named first team all-conference in the Jeffco League and earned her spot as the fourth-ranked junior. The 6-foot-1 point guard finished third in her class in scoring (16.1 ppg), second in rebounds (9.6 rpg), and first in double-doubles with 13. She played a significant role in the Mustang’s 20-6 run that ended at the state quarterfinals matchup. Expect for Bevington to be one of the more competitively sound seniors on the court next season. [player_tooltip player_id="134339" first="Jordynn" last="Conner"] – Denver East Conner is possibly one of the most underrated players in her class. The 5-foot-10 small forward earned a spot on the first team all-conference in the Denver Prep League. She finished her junior season third in her class in rebounds (9.5 rpg and fifth in double-doubles with seven, helping to lead the Angels to a second-round appearance in the state playoffs. Conner’s senior year should make for an exhilarating season. The 5-foot-8 guard finished third in her class in three-pointers, sinking 48 over the season. Siebert ended her junior season with 9.2 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and two steals per game. With a season that ended one win shy of the state final, expect for Siebert’s senior season to be played with a motivating chip on her shoulder. [player_tooltip player_id="116797" first="Madison" last="Manson"] – Arvada West Manson is a player whose versatility is difficult to match. The 5-foot-11 forward/center quietly finished the season with a spot on the Jeffco Leagues honorable mention list. The unselfish leader not only played a significant role in the Wildcats making a postseason appearance, but she also helped them get their first playoff win since 2011. Manson’s senior year will be no cakewalk, but she has proven that she is up for any challenge brought her way.
