Breakout Players of 2022

With the graduation of Mountainside’s Cameron Brink, players such as [player_tooltip player_id="158524" first="Lindsey" last="Wilson"] will have the opportunity to expand their game and make a huge impact. Brink provided leadership qualities for Wilson as players in her position look to use what they’ve learned from their past mentors. Meanwhile others like South Salem’s [player_tooltip player_id="158527" first="Delaney" last="Keith"] are on the other end of the spectrum as they look to help cater to the team’s superstar. Irrigon’s [player_tooltip player_id="158526" first="JaLay" last="Burns"] is one who looks to continue her claim as one of the State’s best players under the radar. Here are the breakout players for the 2022 class.
[player_tooltip player_id="158524" first="Lindsey" last="Wilson"] 2022 6’0” PF Mountainside HS - Lindsey helped Cameron Brink last season down in the post, anchoring them down low in the post. Along the way, she averaged 9.9 points and 4.4 rebounds. She is a rugged post that finds ways to score inside and can hit the occasional jumper. The water polo player isn’t afraid of contact and if she continues to develop she will be quite the impact player. [player_tooltip player_id="158535" first="Peyton" last="Gardner"] 2022 5’5” SG Bend HS - Peyton made her mark last year for Bend as a defensive specialist who also has great foot speed from being a soccer player. As a junior, she will be depended upon to become more of a leader offensively which she is more than capable of. She has all the tools to be a leader and looks to continue to work on her offensive game for the Lava Bears. [player_tooltip player_id="158527" first="Delaney" last="Keith"] 2022 5’9” SG South Salem HS - With South Salem established as one of the State’s elite and the secret of [player_tooltip player_id="158480" first="Hilary" last="James"] out, Delaney will be looked upon for a huge year. The sharpshooter will continue to get easy looks by being the teammate of one of the greatest ball handlers in the State. She simply has to continue shooting and continue playing her defensive game and the numbers will come. [player_tooltip player_id="158526" first="JaLay" last="Burns"] 2022 5’2” PG Irrigon HS - JaLay is one of Oregon’s underrated prospects as she plays for Irrigon, a small school - but make no mistake she is a big time player. Her motor is constantly running throughout the game, she is always working on defense. She simply needs to continue ramping up her offensive skills and finding new ways to reinvent her scoring abilities.
Reece Ericson 2022 5’5” PG Lakeridge HS - With juniors Addie Readon and Rose Daniels coming into their own, Reece is in perfect position to make a leap for the Pacers. She is a floor conscious player that makes the right decisions at the right times. She will have the chance to be the center piece of a young Lakeridge unit with talent. Reece is an excellent all around player with the chance to evolve her game.

[player_tooltip player_id="158528" first="Ava" last="Peterson"] 2022 5’5” PG Clackamas HS - Ava is a nifty point guard for Clackamas that does all the little things for the Cavaliers. With a bigger significant role and another year of experience under her belt, she will be looking ahead to next season. With this, it will lead to opportunities to showcase her skills and abilities. Ava should be slated for a big season and the chance to showcase that the Cavaliers are a threat within the Mt. Hood Conference.
[player_tooltip player_id="158522" first="Alia" last="Harris"] -2022 5’10 SF South Eugene HS - Harris showed her skills last season, making All League in a stiff Pacific Conference including the likes of South Medford. Harris is a tall, athletic forward that gets it done on both ends of the floor. With the departure of Aubrey Lewis, Harris will look to compete as South Eugene’s premier scorer with the help of [player_tooltip player_id="158519" first="Sofia" last="Megert"].
