Juniors to Know This February

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Yesterday, we looked at some sophomores to know as we inch closer to the end of the season and gear up for an exciting three-week postseason to crown five state champions from around the state. Today, we'll look at a few juniors who haven't committed anywhere yet, as we approach the end of the season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='751257' first='EllaMay' last='Cooper']</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Regis guard is as quick as anyone you'll find in the state and can beat her initial defender off the dribble whenever she wants. Cooper has also done an excellent job of getting her teammates involved and finding ways to help bring out the young talent, allowing them to excel in their own ways. Cooper has also become a more confident scorer in her three years playing high school basketball. She's a player who can swing a game in a few possessions.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='751291' first='Grace' last='Mitchell']</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Winneconne wing is a versatile player who can make plays in various ways depending on the matchups she has offensively. She is a physical player who can play through contact around the basket and finish through traffic. However, Mitchell is more of a perimeter player who wants to attack defenders off the dribble and create space to get her shot off. I do like the versatility she brings on the defensive end, and I'm eager to see what she can do at the next level on that end of the floor.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='751283' first='Rowan' last='Counsell']</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Blue Dukes guard is the focal point of what Whitefish Bay does offensively and has been one of the more efficent players in the Milwaukee area. Counsell has been a player who can score from all three levels and has the confidence to beat her defender off the dribble and get to her spots whenever she wants. The junior has also been one of the effective off-ball defenders and has the ability to jump passing lanes whenever opposing players lob passes on the perimeter.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='764914' first='Finley' last='Morgan']</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Laconia guard is the lone starter back from a program that had made three consecutive trips to the state tournament, with Morgan starting in the last two. I have been impressed with how well she's handled the responsibility and usage rate she's needed to take on in her junior season, and she's played some of her best basketball in the high-profile non-conference games the Spartans have played this season. Morgan has been as efficent as ever in the first season when everything is based around her strengths and the scouting report has her name at the top in big and bold letters.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
