The 2021 class is full of many talented players with different talents and skillsets. This includes low-post players, where this class showcases unique players that bring specialized games to their respective teams night in, night out. West Linn’s [player_tooltip player_id="158473" first="Aaronette" last="Vonleh"], the most dominant player in the State, has a throwback low-post game in which she bruises her way through defenses on her way to dominating displays. Tualatin’s [player_tooltip player_id="158478" first="Natalie" last="Lathrop"] emerged last season as a player that can put up big numbers as a result of her versatility, length, and size. West Salem’s [player_tooltip player_id="158493" first="Olivia" last="Rudolph"] has all the tools of a great post, but it is her great overall presence and footwork that helps her make this list. Here are the top post players of the class of 2021. [player_tooltip player_id="158473" first="Aaronette" last="Vonleh"] 2021 6’3" C West Linn HS - Aaronette is a bruiser down low, as once she gets the ball down low, defenders are at her mercy. She is a commanding force in the post as she scores at will, her 6’3” frame is difficult to go head to head against. She rebounds at a beckoning pace as she doesn’t have to jump to get balls within her vicinity. An excellent defender because of her size as she makes it difficult for opponents to score when she is in the paint. Pound for pound, she operates at the highest pace down low in the State. [player_tooltip player_id="158479" first="Schuyler" last="Berry"] 2021 6’2" C Grant HS - Schuyler was the most dominating big in the PIL last season and looks to cap off her career at Grant with more accolades and certainty. She has great length and size but is also agile on her feet which enables her to be a productive force down low. Once she catches the ball in the low post, she is light on her feet and has a great touch around the basket. She rebounds easily based on her block out skills and physicality and alters many shots at the rim. [player_tooltip player_id="158478" first="Natalie" last="Lathrop"] 2021 6’3" C Tualatin HS - Natalie made her stake and claim as one of the State’s most empowering forces down low with a monster game versus St Mary’s Academy, obtaining a 38 point, 18 rebound, 10 block performance along the way. Lathrop has a lot of finesse in her game, as she is incredibly fluid for somebody with her height and length which shows a lot of results. She rebounds at a steadfast pace and blocks shots everywhere within her area. She also has an excellent touch around the basket and scores at a high rate for Tualatin. [player_tooltip player_id="158477" first="Emilia" last="Bishop"] 2021 6’1" PF Wilsonville HS - Emi is a throwback post that utilizes her versatility in favor of today’s modern, fast paced game. She has a tall, big frame and likes to get the ball deep in the post and use her frame for easy scores. She also takes big steps with her long strides to get around defenders. Has a great touch around the basket with her aggressiveness and will keep trying until the ball goes into the hoop. She rebounds well and isn’t afraid of absorbing contact on both ends of the floor. [player_tooltip player_id="158493" first="Olivia" last="Rudolph"] 2021 6’2" PF West Salem HS - Olivia is an interesting prospect who combines her size with her foot work down low for West Salem. What separates her between the others on this list is that she perhaps has the best feet out of the group. Once she gets down low, she has a sensational touch around the basket and finds some imaginative ways to score. She works her feet masterfully upon catching the ball and as a result has a resounding amount of moves on the go. She is also an excellent passer, using her height to see over defenders and dump it off to her teammates.
