In her final time sporting the signature orange of 2A Andrew Jackson, Watkins gave Volunteers backers something to remember her by. Watkins led her team with 31 points en route to a rout of Eau Claire in the 2A state championship game. She had nearly as many points as the entire Shamrocks team managed to place on the scoreboard – which was 36. Watkins’ performance was a double-double as it also included her grabbing a game-high 15 rebounds. She also dished out four assists and rejected two Eau Claire shots. She may be saying farewell to the high school ranks but will soon wear the maroon and gold of the Elon Phoenix.

Watkins is back for the Lady Volunteers this season after winning a Class 2A State Championship a season ago. Tamia a versatile forward likes to handle the rock up the floor at times and play out on the perimeter. The left-handed Watkins has plenty of suitors for her services after high school. Elon, Furman, UNC-Greensboro and Presbyterian to name just a few.
Tamia really does a nice job of alter and challenging shots on the defensive end of the floor with her length. She can fill the lane in transition and finish at the cup. Tamia averaged 26.4 ppg, 12 rebounds, 4.7 steals and 2.2 blocks last season for the Lady Volunteers (27-4). She enters her senior season with 2,335 career points and 1,351 rebounds.

Watkins was GREAT today with her play around the paint area for the Lady Volunteers. Tamia finished with 28 points and 15 rebounds in the win over Military Magnet. Tamia has really looked to expand her game more to the perimeter. She knocked down a few elbow jumpers here today while handling the rock up the floor in transition.
Watkins a left-handed forward was crashing the glass all day long on both ends of the court. Tamia is a good inside-out threat possibility down the road.
