Kendahl Spearman was controlling things for her team hustling up the court getting some fast break points and being aggressive on defense.  She exploded into passing lanes grabbing steals and scoring on solo fast breaks.  She found her open teammates filling the lanes for some fast break points of their own.

Coach Kevin Pederson has had plenty of success luring plenty of in-state recruits to a program he is coaching. Whether it was previously at Lander (which landed four top-tier in-state prospects in its 2022 class) or currently with Coastal Carolina, Pederson possesses plenty of respect in South Carolina girls’ basketball circles.

That was proven once again when Kendahl Spearman Kendahl Spearman 5'7" | PG Legacy Early College | 2023 State SC announced her commitment to be a Chanticleer for her college career. She also fielded offers from Coker, Emory & Henry and Converse.

Spearman, who played her travel ball with Upward Stars 3SSB, averaged 21.6 points, 4.9 steals and four rebounds last season with 3A Emerald. She will play this season once again wearing gold and purple colors, but for those of Legacy Early College.

Riley Stack at 3A Wren is also part of Coastal Carolina’s 2023 recruiting class.

Chiles was not the only veteran star from the Greenwood area that will now call Legacy Early College home. The same move was made by the 5-foot-6 guard who has previously played at both Greenwood and Emerald. Clafin, Converse, Coker and Emory & Henry have all offered Spearman. She joins a Lions team that finished with a 25-5 record in 2021-22. She also ran on the grassroots circuit with Upward Stars 3SSB as did Chiles. Among the strong suits to her game is what she does as a transition playmaker and how she thrives as a midrange jump shooter. Spearman also excels as a ball distributor and ball hawk.
