IOWA CITY, Iowa - A youthful Ames outfit ran into a veteran Iowa City High bunch Saturday night here at Little Hawk Arena. That matchup in the Class 5A Regional Semifinals proved to be too tall a task for the Little Cyclones, whose season ended with a 12-11 mark.

Watching them in action during the 2025-26 finale brought about palpable hope for the future. It's a collection of talented young student-athletes that won the Iowa Alliance North with an 8-0 record.

Williams is a pass-first point guard with an old-school game. She makes money with tenacious on-ball defense using a combination of strength, quickness and smarts. Williams sees the floor well with the rock in her hands and can break down defenders off of the bounce. Once gaining an advantage, she makes good decisions, dishing off when the double team comes or finding her own shot if it's there. Williams flashes clean shooting form and can score on all three levels. A tight handle also helps in breaking pressure. Williams limits mistakes and is a leader on the court.

The left-handed Britten is a well-rounded hooper with a skill set capable of helping her team in a wide range of areas. Her game is mature for a prep freshman. She's fundamentally sound, makes good decisions and limits mistakes. Britten is capable of guarding multiple positions and is aggressive on that end of the floor. She handles the ball well in press-break and when running offense in the half court. Britten can run the point or seamlessly slide off of the ball and make plays. She can get to the rim and finish, pull up or take her shot behind the arc.

Bivins is an exciting prospect in that she already impacts games with the bonus of having plenty of room for growth in reaching for a significant ceiling. The potential stems from a mix of strong skills and physical gifts. Bivins handles the ball well and can run offense. The shooting form is technically sound, and she squeezes off attempts from deep quickly, before the defense can react. Bivins flashes a mid-range game and can get all the way to the rim, aided by long arms to clear taller defenders. She's a good defender, herself, capable of guarding multiple positions.

Singh seems to just be scratching the surface of what she can become as a player. In working her way to realizing her potential, the sophomore does well in playing within the team concept with an ability to provide what a team needs in multiple areas. Singh is crafty around the rim on offense and does a nice job defending in the post. Agility, quickness and long arms help in guarding away from the paint. She achieves good rebounding position, making her an effective rebounder.
