Top Returners: Capitol- North Conference Below is a list of players who are going to be the top prospects in the Capitol- North conference next season. Each one of these players has been successful so far in their careers and will be the go-to players for their programs next season. The Capitol- North was led last season by Lake Mills who finished with a 9-1 conference record. Following behind them was Lodi with a 7-3 record and Watertown Luther Prep also with a 7-3 record. 1. Julianna Wagner | Junior | Lake Mills | 5’5 PG The junior helped to lead her team to the number one spot in conference play last season. Wagner was chosen as the Player of the Year in the Capitol- North conference and is certainly the opponent to stop for each team she faces. She averaged 13.3 points per game for Lake Mills. A sniper from beyond the arc, Wagner can shoot the ball with range. She is effective from far beyond the arc and creates a shot for herself. She made 46 three point baskets during her junior season. A great distributor as well, she led her team in assists averaging 4.4 per game with 119 on the season. 2. [player_tooltip player_id="155429" first="Grace" last="Schmidt"] | Sophomore | Watertown Luther Prep Schmidt is an ultra talented post player who capitalizes on her size in the lane. She’s a powerful post player with great footwork. She uses her body well to create space and finishes strong at the basket. Schmidt puts up huge numbers for her team and can easily take over a game any night. The First Team all conference selection averaged 23.4 points per game for her team. A solid rebounder as well, she averaged 14.4 boards per game. Towards the end of the regular season, Schmidt added some shot blocking ability to her game as well and I’d look for her to improve that this summer and going into next season. 3. Lauryn Milne | Junior | Lodi | 5’11 G Milne was the leading scorer for her team this season. The standout junior guard does a great job of pushing the tempo for her squad. She plays with high energy the entire game and is a clear leader for Lodi. With an impressive combination of size and skill, Milne knows just how to use her body to score over defenders. She has a smooth mid-range game and can balance her body well for a floater. A high scoring guard for Lodi, Milne averaged 18.4 points per game. She is primarily an inside scoring threat with a strong attack in the lane but will knock down a perimeter shot if left open. She made 27 three point baskets this season. 4. Vivian Guerrero | Junior | Lake Mills | 6’1 C A consistent scorer for Lake Mills, Guerrero is a player her team counts on for buckets each night. She’s a great role player that understands her positioning on the floor. Her basketball IQ is strong and she has a high understanding for how to move without the ball and get herself open. She works well with teammates and has a solid seal in the post. She finished the season third in scoring with 11 points per game. A rebounding specialist for Lake Mills, Guerrero grabs boards with power and authority. She averaged 9.1 boards per game during her junior season. 5. Jaden Kolinski | Junior | Lodi | 5’10 G A solid triple threat for Lodi, Kolinski thrives in multiple ways. She is a dynamic guard who is crafty on offense and a force on defense. With a high basketball IQ the junior guard does a great job contributing to the game in more ways than one. She finished second this season in scoring with 16 points per game. She is a confident three point shooter and will knock it down from just about anywhere on the floor. She made 54 three point shots this season. She led her team in rebounding with 8.2 boards per game. She has a strong offensive rebound putback and doesn’t shy away from contact. She can pass the ball as well oftentimes threading the needle to her teammates. She finished with 3.2 assists per game. A scrappy defender, Kolinski grabbed 65 steals during her junior campaign.
