#45 – Sparks is one of the more intriguing prospects in this year’s freshman class. At 5’11, the Minneapolis Roosevelt guard is lanky, light on her feet, and possesses a great deal of versatility. She plays hard on both ends of the court, using her length to block shots, snag rebounds, and be a disruptive presence in the passing lanes. On offense, Corrina’s quickness, long strides, and crafty ball handling allow her to get to the rim with relative ease. Right now her game is a ways away from being a finished product, but there’s undoubtedly a lot of potential there. Sparks will certainly be one of the biggest names to watch in the Minneapolis City conference in the coming years.

Sparks got off to a slow start, but as the day progressed, so did her game. Her activity level picked up, and she began to show flashes of what makes her an intriguing prospect. With her length and willingness to attack the paint, she found ways to put pressure on the defense and make her presence felt. The finished product isn’t there yet, but the flashes certainly are. There’s something to work with here, and as her strength, confidence, and consistency catch up with her physical tools, she’ll be an interesting player to keep an eye on.

Sparks impacted the game in a variety of ways at the PGH Minnesota Shootout. The long, wiry Diamond Elite guard generated deflections and forced turnovers on the defensive end, found wide open looks on the perimeter, and crashed the offensive boards to generate second chance points. Bouncy, quick and light on her feet, Corrina’s speed and continuous work ethic made her stand out on Saturday. Only an 8th grader, Sparks had an impressive season with Minneapolis Roosevelt this winter. She was the team’s second-leading scorer at 9.2 points per game, and shot a whopping 49.3% from beyond the arc. There’s no doubt that the Teddies guard has the potential to play at the next level.
