About Kaylie

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am a highly coachable combination guard with a strong basketball IQ. I pride myself in being able to impact the game on both ends of the floor. I can score at all three levels, push the tempo and create opportunities for my teammates. But, what sets me apart is my effort, communication and willingness to play any role my team needs.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am a hard-working, coachable player who loves to compete. I bring a positive attitude, strong work ethic and energy to everything I do. I am always excited to learn, take feedback and do whatever it takes to help my team succeed.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I play varsity tennis, lead Fellowship of Christian Athletes, participate in my school choir and have started on my varsity basketball team since 8th grade. I was selected as 1 of 25 students in the county to participate in the Pikeville Medical Center Medical Academy. I was selected for the Big Sandy Comm. & Tech. College LPN program as a freshman and will be a LPN upon high school graduation.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Starting on varsity as an 8th grader taught me how to compete, stay confident and earn the trust of my teammates at a high level. I have grown as a leader by helping lead FCA, where I've learned how to encourage others and lead with purpose. Through my church mission work and organizing fundraising for children's Christmas, I've developed a heart for serving others and giving back to the community

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Dealing with team injuries and roster turnover has been a challenge. It pushed me to step into bigger roles, stay adaptable and help keep our team focused and connected. I've learned the importance of loyalty through adversity and worked hard to bring new players together. Staying committed despite the circumstances helped me grow as a leader, improve my communication and become more resilient.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a NAIA, D2 or D3 program that has a small, family feel where relationships really matter. I want to be a part of a close-knit team with a coaching staff that invests in their players and emphasizes a positive team culture, development and positive accountability. I am also looking for a strong academic program where I can grow on and off the court.

Defensively, she took on every challenge, guarding multiple positions and using her strength to hold her own against bigger players. She was active, physical, and consistently put herself in the right position to make plays. Offensively, she attacked with confidence, used her body well to create space, and finished through contact. She also made an impact on the glass, battling for rebounds and giving her team extra possessions with her effort and motor.
