The way you achieve that goal is done by the following; first, most times it is a genetic thing, some are born more agile than others, second, you can train with a skills and plyometric trainer and he can bring some of that out of her. Lastly, if you have a young lady that is super athletic which most times very rare, this type of player if she gets the right type of training she may be able to dunk the ball on the break. I can talk about (5) girls who fit that bill in California and they are special, because schools have identified them and they did with emphasis. So here are my 2021 Athletic Specimens to evaluate in this article and they are as followed:
2021, 6’3, SF, Lynwood HS, Rayah Marshall Rayah Marshall 6'4" | PF Lynwood | 2021 State #14 Nation CA – Rayah is an athletic specimen in every sense of the word, she is agile, she is strong and she is a dominant force on the floor. She can finish at the rim with her long and wiry body and she is able to rise up over her opponent to score from multiple places on the floor. She also shows her athleticism on the defensive side of the ball, she will run you down and block your shot off the backboard. She takes off down the floor with the ball in her hand and is able to pull up and knock down shots, she is definitely an athletic specimen on the court, no question.
2021, 5’11. SG, LACES HS, Aliyah Pollard Aliyah Pollard 5'11" | SG LACES | 2021 State CA – Aliyah is quite the athletic athlete as well, she is different in the ways she shows her athleticism, she uses it in her approach to the game. She can get by you off the dribble, she can run you down and defend as well as keep you in front of her while she is defending you. She finishes at the rim thru contact and is able to get to spots on the floor to score the ball with ease. She has a nice body type and it will do her good in the college game at the next level.
2021, 5’7, PG, Leuzinger HS, D’arrah Allen D’arrah Allen 5'7" | PG Leuzinger | 2021 State CA – D’arrah is a quick athletic guard with a lot of skills at her disposal, she is tough, she is fierce and she is a dog on the floor. She can get to the rim and leave you in the dust with her speed, she can pull up and knock down the midrange jumpshot. D’arrah three point shot is consistent and she is not afraid to put in up if you back up off of her and is can also shoot it off the dribble or the catch. She is a decent defender and her best attribute on the floor is her electrifying way she plays, she is a highlight reel waiting to happen.
2021, 6’0, PF, Fairmont Prep HS, Makaila Glynn Makaila Glynn 6'0" | PF Fairmont Prep HS | 2021 State CA – Makaila is quite a raw specimen that exudes all the athleticism possible for a player of her caliber. She is a very athletic and is as agile as a gazelle on the floor as she runs to pin down her opponent in the paint. She can rebound the ball and push the break at her size, but she has been taught how to play, she immediately gets the ball to the guards and runs to the block. She can make plays and set screens for her team, but she is very capable of scoring in the post area with great consistency.
2021, 5’9, CG, Xavier Prep Academy HS, Angie Carroll Angie Carroll 5'9" | CG Xavier College Prep HS | 2021 State CA – Angie is very athletic as well, she is capable of many different skill set for her team, but her main skill set is her ability to get to the rim. She has a decent midrange game, it is her go to and she is working on the three point shot as we speak. Her athleticism allows her to be able to make plays for her team with her strength and quickness and her determination to get better each and every game. This kid is gonna be a special in the coming year, if she continues to work on her game. She is one tough cookie in my book.
