Arizona Summer Watchlist: Thunderbird League Prospects Rising

As the summer basketball season approaches, there are opportunities for players to elevate their recruiting stock and gain more exposure. The first week of the Thunderbird League showcased some of Arizona's newer and younger talent. These players showed athleticism, basketball IQ, and provided many of the intangibles that college coaches look for.    Chloe is very agile and moves well on the court. She plays with good body control. She can change direction and create mismatches against her defenders because of how well she handles the ball. Chloe is confident in creating her shot off the dribble. She has a quick first step, and her confidence allows her to apply pressure to the opposing defender. Defensively, she has good foot speed and has the quickness to stay in front of the opposing guard. She has a very high basketball IQ for a young player and reads her defenders well. Chloe will become a dominant playmaker as she continues to grow and will consistently attack the defense off the dribble. Defensively, her quickness will allow her to compete on every possession. As she continues to develop, she will become a guard who will compete well at a higher level.     Avalon is a very talented prospect. Avalon has a strong foundation and has a lot of upside to her game. She has excellent athleticism for her size, and what is notable about her is her natural bounce, allowing her to play with a lot of energy on both sides of the ball. Avalon has good basketball IQ for her age. She understands positioning and spacing well and makes good decisions. Avalon plays with noticeable confidence and is not afraid to shoot the ball. Avalon is competitive and will become a highly impactful player as she continues to grow in her game.     Carley is the type of player that every coach wants. She is a young prospect with a good understanding of the game and knows where to be on the floor to get the ball. Carley's greatest area of strength is her ability to space the floor. Carley is the type of player who knows where to be on both sides of the ball. She does not look out of place on the court. Carley impacts the games by making the right play. As she continues to develop her skill set, she can become a big contributor on any team she plays for.     Elly is another young prospect who has tremendous upside. She has the foundation to become a really good player. What stands out about Elly is her quiet confidence. Her game is strong because she possesses foundational traits like composure and effort, and she can make smart plays. She plays with a high motor on both sides of the ball. Defensively, she moves very well laterally and constantly competes. Offensively, she has a very quick first step that allows her to create separation and get past the opposing defender. She plays aggressively in the lane and can finish through traffic. She also has a very good shooting range and is a threat anywhere on the court. She has a very good feel of the game and will only develop as she continues to play high-quality competition.     Shelby is a promising young prospect with great potential. She has great size and an impressive wingspan, which is ideal for her position. She has the length to contest shots and disrupt passing lanes. She is also versatile and moves well for her size. This summer will be an important summer for Shelby as she continues to build on a strong foundation. Offensively, she can stretch defenses. Shelby also has good ball-handling skills. As Shelby continues to grow in her game, so will her confidence. Shelby has the skill foundation and size that coaches look for.     Maisy stands at 5'7 "with an impressive 6'1" wingspan. She has good size and has long-term potential. Due to her size and length, she will continue to grow and will be able to use her length to disrupt on both ends of the floor. She communicates well, is an effective rebounder, and stays engaged through games. Maisy will only improve as she continues to play. She has the potential to become an effective paint player.     Olivia stands out on the court with her strength, size, athleticism, and aggressiveness. She is a very confident player who is not afraid to take advantage of opportunities. She has a high basketball IQ at a young ageand, with her natural athletic ability,can play multiple positions on the floor. Olivia is not afraid to get the paint on and appears to embrace playing through contact. Olivia's potential is very high. She plays hard and competes on every possession. She has a reliable outside shot and a very high motor. She has strong long-term upside that will only improve as she continues to play.
