Class 4A – Region 6: 2021’s Who Should be Valued by Colleges

As we look for other ways to cover prospects we thought it would be beneficial to cover players in a way that allows us to cover those we don’t write much about. We will be using the region’s from last season as they were constructed. Obviously, these regions will change into next season but for these stories it was the easiest way to divide players and teams as equally as possible. We will be writing a series of three stories for each region in the state and the categories are as follows: 2023’s to put on Your Radar, 2022’s who can Breakout, and 2021’s Who Should be Valued by Colleges. We will continue to go through each region and aim to hit as many players as we can that we haven’t talked about previously. Here are five 2021’s who should be valued by colleges. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="64830" first="Madison" last="Naig"] - Pella</strong> The leading scorer, rebounder and top distributor were all underclassmen for Pella last season as they won 12 games. Topping the Dutch in scoring was Class of 2021’s [player_tooltip player_id="64830" first="Madison" last="Naig"], who averaged 12.3 points per game on 39 percent shooting from the field. Naig, who scored 283 points total, also had 95 rebounds, 30 assists and 20 steals. She made 26 three-pointers and knocked down 72 percent of her free throw attempts. <strong>Anna Nacos - Washington</strong> A nice midseason run helped Washington finish with a winning record, and the Demons boast the return of leading scorer Anna Nacos. Nacos scored 248 points, averaging just under 12 a night. She shot 42 percent from the field, almost 35 percent from the three-point line and sank nearly 72 percent of her free throws. She also produced 37 steals and 30 assists. She is also a standout golfer, as her sister, Sarah Nacos, is currently at Bradley University competing on the golf team. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="131129" first="Ella" last="Van Weelden"] - Marion</strong> Joining Northern Iowa commit [player_tooltip player_id="13867" first="Riley" last="Wright"] in the starting lineup once again this winter will be Class of 2021’s [player_tooltip player_id="131129" first="Ella" last="Van Weelden"]. This past winter, Van Weelden scored 282 points on 45 percent shooting from the field with 35 made three-pointers. She also had 164 rebounds and 47 blocked shots to lead the Indians with 44 assists and 38 steals. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="165007" first="Faith" last="Diers"] - Pella</strong> All five starters are set to return for Pella, as the group includes [player_tooltip player_id="165007" first="Faith" last="Diers"]. The Class of 2021 Diers scored 237 points on 38 percent shooting, sinking a team-leading 35 three-pointers. She also contributed 92 rebounds, 47 assists, 18 steals and blocked six shots while making 38 of 49 free throw attempts. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="165009" first="Chassidy" last="Henwood"] - Newton</strong> If you don’t know the name [player_tooltip player_id="165009" first="Chassidy" last="Henwood"], make sure to follow Newton this coming winter. Henwood scored 234 points to lead the Cardinals a season ago, shooting almost 43 percent from the floor. But she did so much more. Along with her scoring, Henwood also produced 170 rebounds, 123 assists and 103 steals, even blocking 12 shots.
