Colorado Basketball Club obviously wanted its players to compete and play basketball this summer and after thoughtful consideration, the coaches and staff determined the safest, most cost effective and most competitive experience would be for its players to participate in the Nike Tournament of Champions in Des Moines, Iowa, from July 8-12. CBC took six teams to the TOC and by all accounts, it was a great event with all the proper safety protocols in place. The competition was outstanding with the opportunity to compete against some of the best clubs around like All Iowa Attack, Wisconsin Flight Elite, Minnesota Fury, Nebraska Attack and many others. Each team played seven games at the Hy-Vee Convention Center and we caught up with the staff to find out who they felt stood out in the club’s return to action. Here are some of the CBC players in the Class of 2022 who shined the brightest. [caption id="attachment_188899" align="alignright" width="237"] [player_tooltip player_id="145403" first="Brianna" last="Sealy"][/caption]Briana Sealy, CBC UAA 16U, 5’10, PF, Air Academy “This kid is a player,” CBC general manager Tammy Neuhaus said. Sealy has a good basketball body and good strength, and she uses it to her advantage in games. At the TOC, she scored at will and was strong on the inside and since she’s a bit undersized in the paint, Sealy is continuing to work on her outside shooting to stretch her game out to the perimeter and make her a greater threat as a stretch four or a three at the next level. Sealy transferred to Colorado from Arizona so last year was her first high school season at Air Academy, where she averaged 8.3 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game. [caption id="attachment_188901" align="alignleft" width="287"] [player_tooltip player_id="117722" first="Edie" last="Morrow"][/caption][player_tooltip player_id="117722" first="Edie" last="Morrow"], CBC UAA 16U, 5’10, SF, Erie Morrow plays on an Erie team with a ton of talent, so it’s hard to get touches on offense. But she still stands out on the floor with her raw athleticism and natural sense for the rhythm of the game. At the TOC, Morrow shot the ball well. The long, lengthy small forward runs the floor well and uses all of her tools to get defensive touches and create possessions and transition opportunities for her team. During the 2019-20 high school season, Morrow averaged 5.3 points, 5.2 rebounds, 3.1 assists, three steals and a block a night. [caption id="attachment_188907" align="alignright" width="171"] [player_tooltip player_id="95180" first="Gabby" last="Louther"][/caption][player_tooltip player_id="95180" first="Gabby" last="Louther"], CBC UAA 17U, 5’11, SF, Pueblo West Louther has cemented her reputation as a player who always plays hard when she’s on the floor. At the TOC, she did just that. Louther also hit some timely 3-pointers that helped CBC succeed in some big games. While the hustle is always there for Louther, her anticipation and body positioning also help her rack up the rebounds. As a sophomore in 2019-20, Louther averaged 7.5 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.3 steals night. With several key seniors now graduated, expect a big 2020-21 campaign from Louther as the Cyclones’ featured team leader. [caption id="attachment_186786" align="alignleft" width="222"] [player_tooltip player_id="95179" first="Alex" last="Pirog"][/caption][player_tooltip player_id="95179" first="Alex" last="Pirog"], CBC UAA 17U, 6’2, C/PF, Highlands Ranch Hitting the weight room to prepare herself for the next level, Pirog just keeps getting stronger all the time. Becoming a force to be reckoned with, the skilled post player finishes well in the paint and is a terror on the boards. Pirog also runs the floor well and showed off her improving ability to shoot from the outside at the TOC, which a big development for her and will make her very challenging to defend if she continues to make strides. Pirog averaged 7.6 points, 7.1 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per game as a junior at Highlands Ranch last winter.
