Kjerstad enters the rankings as one of the state’s more accomplished young facilitators. The 5’9 guard from Wall averaged nearly five assists per game last winter, leading all of Class B in that regard and ranking among South Dakota’s premier distributors. Karmyn plays with her eyes up, sees opportunities developing and consistently puts teammates in position to succeed. Kjerstad isn’t simply a facilitator, though. She averaged more than 12 points and 5 rebounds per game, shoots the ball with efficiency and has become increasingly capable of creating her own offense off the dribble. Karmyn is getting stronger which has helped her attack the basket more effectively. Her size and length also translate defensively, where she can create turnovers and quickly turn them into offense.
