Prospect Spotlight: Emily Rodabaugh (2019)

Archbishop Murphy High School Girl's Basketball team has been on a great run for the last few years. Basketball is a team game, but there is no debate that current senior Emily Rodabaugh has been a driving force behind the program's most recent success. The private Catholic school located in Everett (30 miles north of Seattle) has been to the 2A State Tournament each of the last two seasons, including a second place finish last season. The 2A State Tournament MVP? That would be Emily Rodabaugh. At 6 feet tall, Emily has a fine tuned skill set that she has spent countless hours perfecting. She is capable of running some possessions at the one, or playing off the ball at the two/three positions. This did not come over night, but her grind turned up to new levels when she started working with Seattle-based trainer, Cartiea French-Toney. When they first started working together, Emily had no offers and was hungry to prove herself as a D1 talent. The stories of her running every single step at the Alaska Airlines Center at the University of Washington could make someone break a sweat just hearing about it. The recruitment eventually gained momentum and turned into a handful of Division 1 offers from schools on the west coast. Following the State Championship, Emily joined the Sagebrush program, based in the Tri-Cities area of Washington. Emily mentioned that her experience with Sagebrush was nothing but positive and she learned a lot from director/coach Mike Hodgins. Emily's skill set that she worked on with her trainer paid off this spring and summer and the offers came in, but that didn't take away the pressure involved in the recruiting process. She mentioned to <em>Prep Girls Hoops </em>"Once AAU ended it got a lot more stressful to see a lot of girls committing and the pressure to make a decision definitely increased." That decision led to her eventually committing to Northern Arizona of the Big Sky Conference, before the start of her final season of high school. <strong><span style="text-decoration: underline">Emily on committing to NAU:</span></strong> <em>I picked NAU because I absolutely love the coaching staff, the fit and [the] opportunity with the team was perfect for me. I felt like I instantly got along with the team could see myself spending the next few years with the in Flagstaff, [Arizona]. </em> &nbsp; Emily plans to major in Criminal Justice, with a minor in Sociology at NAU. On the court she wants to impact the team in a positive way as a freshman, win a Big Sky Championship and have the opportunity to play in March Madness.
