The young team who only graduated 3 seniors last May, 1 of which being Newberry signee Dyani Burke Dyani Burke 5'9" | CG W.J. Keenan High School | 2020 State SC , has much to build on. Here are the returners you need to know:
Milaysia Fulwiley Milaysia Fulwiley 5'8" | PG Keenan | 2023 State #9 Nation SC : The 5’7 point guard is the #1 ranked player in the 2023 class. The rising sophomore is a tremendous athlete and basketball player. Averaging 26 points, 6 assists, 7 rebounds, and 6 steals a game, she is only going up from here. As a 3 point shooter she is consistent at 37% on this last season, coming on strong at the end of the season knocking down at least 3 a game for the final 4 games. In their state championship game she finished with 29 points, and 8 steals and rebounds. She has been playing on varsity since her 7th grade year, so we have had 3 great seasons to watch with 3 more left, I would expect 3 more state championship appearances from Keenan. She plays AAU for the FBC United organization.
Ashari Lewis Ashari Lewis 5'9" | SF Keenan | 2022 State SC : The 5’9 small forward averaged nearly 10 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 steals per game as a sophomore. She has a long athletic frame, with long arms. She is better 15 feet and in, but is capable of shooting the 3. She is tough on the boards, having 7 games where she grabbed 8+. Defensively she can keep her opponent in front of her, and harass others due to her length and size. She has good upside, and 2 more years to keep developing.
Tamara Davis: The 5’7 guard averaged 7 points and 4 rebounds per game as a sophomore. As a solid role player this last season, I would expect she will step up and start to contribute more these last 2 seasons. She scored in double-figures 6 times this last season, and grabbed 5+ rebounds in 7 different games. She is tough and plays hard.
Jailyn Oree: The 5’9 small forward averaged 6 points and 8 rebounds per game as a sophomore. She has a solid build to her, and it makes her able to bang down-low despite her size. She battles hard inside, and is tough on the boards. She had 5 games with double-digit rebounds. She gets to the free-throw line quite often as well, with attempting over 80 on the season. She is tough and battles hard down-low, should be a force to be reckoned with moving forward with this talented squad.
