PGH Up Next Wisconsin-Team 3 Evaluations (Part 2)

I had the opportunity to watch the PGH Up Next showcase at The Champion Center yesterday and the talent was off the charts! Here is part 2 of my Team 3 evaluations.    Kittelson, a 5-7 Colfax product, was another member of Team 3 that I caught glimpses of the player that she could become in high school. Long and athletic, Kittelson, was one of the better players, at getting downhill, and you can tell that her athleticism is improving rapidly. Off the ball, Kittelson was very active showing good court awareness knowing when to cut looking for a pass and competed well, on both the offensive and defensive glass.     I liked what I saw from Schneider's game yesterday. Very physical player who does not back down, from a challenge, and held her own defensively against bigger competition. Offensively she showed a nice bag of moves including the ability to take her defender, multiple times, down the baseline finishing once with a pretty scoop shot and another time with a crossover dribble and spin finishing over a taller opponent. What was also impressive was her motor where she competed for every rebound and blocked several shots on defense.     Lau was a player that I was unfamiliar with, before yesterday, but not anymore! One of the better rebounders that I watched, regardless of size, Lau put on a rebounding clinic using good strength, body positioning, and effort, especially on the offensive end, keeping several possessions alive for her team. Defensively she moves her feet well and plays with very active hands. On the offensive end, she was hard to stop when she got a head of steam showing the ability to finish through contact.     Depies stood out as one of the better finishers that I watched at the PGH Up Next showcase yesterday showing the ability to finish with either hand, both over traffic and through contact. Aggressive on the glass, Depies did a nice job of pushing tempo knowing when to take it to the hoop or find a cutting teammate for a layup. Defensively she slides her feet and does a great job of making life miserable for whomever she is guarding.     Wachter, in the 3 v 3 portion of the showcase, jumped out as one of the more consistent shooters from 20+ feet. Once she got to the 5 v 5 is when her complete game came alive and it is easy to get excited about the player she will be once she hits high school! Showing true three-level scoring ability, Wachter was able to get to the hoop, at will, and finish with a variety of difficult layups often absorbing contact in the process. Showing good court awareness, Wachter made the defense pay, for playing off of her knocking down both mid and long range jumpers. Defensively she did a nice job of cutting off driving angles while poking away several resulting in turnovers.
