Going off to play in the Tournament of Champions (TOC) in Des Moines, IA they went finished with a record of 5-2. As we look at 5 players that stood out with their style of play to help their team succeed. There is no questions that these players are more than capable of playing at the next level. Let’s take a look at 5 players that shinned for the Pro Skills Basketball U17.
Brooklyn Seymour Brooklyn Seymour 5'11" | PF Ralston Valley | 2021 State CO (Ralston Valley, 2021)
Seymour is a versatile player who is physical, and has great athleticism to her game. She can play in the inside, and can step outside the paint depending on the matchup. She was 20th in rebounding per game in the TOC averaging 7.7, and has great footwork allowing her to finish among the best. Seymour has unmatched energy when she is on the floor, and is not afraid to dive after a lose ball for her team. She is a player that can only help your team, and leading into a new season she will be a player that coaches will have to prepare for.
Libby Campbell (Grandview, 2021)
Campbell is a player that has been under the radar playing for Grandview, one of the top teams in state. She is a lefty with great height, and shows the ability to knock down shots. She averaged 11 points per game which put her as the 89th player in the tournament in scoring, and she averaged 4 rebounds per game at the TOC. Campbell is a scrappy player on the defense end, and does well getting to the rim. She has a high basketball IQ making her a player that can increasing her chance to get recruited in the process, and is continuing to add value to her game
Elaina Martinez Elaina Martinez 5'4" | CG Mullen | 2021 State CO (Mullen, 2021)
Martinez one of the most unselfish players in her class looks to get her teammates going, and has great court awareness. With her ability to pass the ball opens up some many opportunities for her team. She finished 4th in assist per game at the TOC averaging 5.3 assist. She moves her feet well on defense keeping her player in front, and makes it uncomfortable for her opponents when she is guarding them. Martinez is also a player that can knock down shots from anywhere on the floor, and with range opening up driving lanes for her and teammates.
Dasiya Jones Dasiya Jones 6'0" | SF Grandview | 2021 State CO (Grandview, 2021)
Recently committed to Regis University here in Colorado, Jones will be a good addition to the roster with her height, and great footwork in the post. She averaged 10.5 points per game at the TOC making her the 90th player for points per game. She also averaged 4 rebounds per game. Jones is a player that plays with great pace, and shows the ability to knocked shots from mid-range out to the 3 point line. She also does well attacking the rim with a variety of finishes. Sh also shows that she can be a willing defender, and can keep players in front.
Breelyn Robinson Breelyn Robinson 5'7" | CG Grandview | 2021 State CO (Grandview, 2021)
Robinson is a player that will give her maximum effort as soon as she steps into the gym. She is a player that has great foot speed, and can intercept passes among the best. She loves to turn her defense into offense getting easy layups on the other end. She averaged 10.2 points per game making her the 97th at the TOC for points per game. Robinson has been improving each year on the offensive end, and she shows that she has a quick first step making her tough to keep out the middle of the paint.
