Time to check-in again with what has been happening in the busy world of basketball recruiting around the state of Oklahoma. If you have any recruiting news to share, feel free to message us on Twitter or any other platform. We would love to share the news! [player_tooltip player_id="30543" first="Chantae" last="Embry"] | 6-1 F | Norman | @chantae_embry The biggest news of the week was the commitment of the Class of 2021’s second-ranked player, [player_tooltip player_id="30543" first="Chantae" last="Embry"]. Embry committed to Texas Tech after narrowing down her choices to four only a few weeks ago. Her commitment comes at a curious time considering that the Red Raiders only recently fired head coach Marlene Stollings and hired new head coach Krista Gerlich away from UT-Arlington. However, Gerlich had been recruiting Embry to the Mavericks prior to her move and there was presumably already a relationship in place. Embry is a very strong player who battles hard inside and is a true team leader. She should be a day one starter for the Red Raiders who Gerlich can look to build around for years to come. [player_tooltip player_id="151335" first="Brianna" last="Wietelman"] | 6-2 F/C | Oklahoma Christian | @b_wietelman Wietelman is one of our favorite players in the class of 2021 and her No. 44 ranking is going to improve greatly after her performances this summer. She has great size and uses her body well to get position in the post and finish. She shows the makings of a nice jumper from mid-range and is constantly developing. By the end of the 2021 season, Wietelman could be a top-15 ranked player in her class if she continues to improve as she did this summer. She currently holds offers from Newman and Southwestern Assemblies of God University. Wietelman should see D-I offers beginning to come in after a few good performances for OCA this year. [player_tooltip player_id="151338" first="Kacey" last="Fishinghawk"] | 5-5 G | Tahlequah | @KaceyLynn02 Fishinghawk is a tremendous guard with a high motor who runs the point with authority. Defensively she causes trouble for the other team while using her speed and quickness to stay in front of her man. She cuts and drives hard to the basket, but is a constant threat from deep also. Fishinghawk picked up offers recently from Briar Cliff, Bethel and Friends. As she commences her senior season with Tahlequah, expect many more offers to follow. Taliyah Parker | 6-1 G/F | Putnam City West | @ tparkerhoops24 Though the 2024 rankings have not been released yet, expect Parker to be somewhere near the top. Parker is tall to begin with, but her athleticism is absolutely off the charts. She can jump out of the gym and is constantly going all out - every single possession. Sometimes you can tell when a kid just wants it and Taliyah clearly wants it. Parker already holds offers from Eastern Michigan, Arkansas and Texas Tech as a freshman. McKenzie Mathurin | 5-9 G | Broken Arrow | @mathurin2025 While we’re talking about youngsters, McKenzie is an eighth-grader who will presumably be playing for Broken Arrow in 2021. Her mom is a coach there, so it makes sense. Mathurin is a powerful 5-9 combo guard with quick hands who finishes strong at the basket. She can shoot and is an absolute gym rat. She can do it all and has five more seasons to improve before she heads off to what will surely be a Division-I scholarship. McKenzie has already had several conversations with coaches at Oklahoma and the Sooners will assuredly be making an offer in the near future - along with numerous other D-I schools!
