It was a tough season for Burlington a year ago, as they struggled to a 3-16 record. The Grayhounds also graduated a number of key players including seniors Angel Baylark, Bailey Wiemann and Mackenzie Kerns. Burlington will look to rebuild around seniors Mackenzie Blythe, Yarexia Molina and Ariana Baylark, along with junior Alexis Standard and sophomore Ella Schroeder.

Burlington Notre Dame had a great regular season before coming up just short of reaching the Class 1A state tournament. The Nikes were topped by Bellevue Marquette in a regional final. Plenty of reason for optimism surrounds the program as returning starters [player_tooltip player_id="163343" first="Katy" last="Stephens"] and Gabby Deery return. Stephens scored 308 points with 174 rebounds and 48 steals a year ago, with Deery adding 204 points, 180 rebounds and 41 blocks. Kaitlyn LaLonde, Maddy Mosena, Reagan Engberg, Isabel Tjaden, Abby Korschgen, Amella Morgan, Kallee Orth and Kenna Westlake all saw plenty of varsity time as well.

Battling in the Tri-Rivers Conference helped Calamus-Wheatland push deep into the postseason, as the Warriors advanced to a semifinal before falling to league champion Bellevue Marquette by just nine. Several key seniors have moved on from that team, but returning starters Alison Boeckmann and Emily Knudtson are back. Boeckmann scored 156 points with 134 rebounds and 59 steals, as Knudtson added 147 points and 138 rebounds.
