The Tyrone Johnson Showcase has been a must-stop for me not only when I was coaching club basketball, formerly known as AAU, well it's still called that but it ain't just like some of this you read and that's called certain things, but sometimes it ain't but enough with slang, here seven guards that came out with a bang from #TJShowcase Da'Mya Derby (AD Elite Peterson) Pflugerville HS Derby has the right last name as in "Kentucky" because north to south, she's one of the fastest players in the state, with the ball and under control and not only does she have blistering speed, she sees the floor through a microscope and hits teammates on the money yet she also blows by defenders in the halfcourt and can shoot the mid to long-range effectively [player_tooltip player_id="136360" first="Ashley" last="Corpus"] (SA Lady Hoops) SW Legacy HS Corpus caught my eye at the South Texas Classic scoring at Will and with Grace as she just put her team on her back. Fast forward to now, she continues to show she can do that yet what I really enjoy is watching her when the game is on the line, I know who's getting the ball and I've seen what she can do numerous times and the TJ Showcase was no different as her long ball exhibition had me SMH Precious Daily ([program_tooltip program_id='715690' first='DC' last='Queens'] Centex) Mexia HS Daily has been one of my faves even before she played as I used to catch her and sisters at my daughter's games at Texas A&M yet when she told me to come and watch her in the 5th grade, I knew what was coming as she just makes things happen to change momentum. Solid PG yet can score, plays the passing lane as well as defense but her desire and mindset proves #sizedontmatter because she can play [player_tooltip player_id="136357" first="Tianna" last="Mathis"] (Lady Thunder) Rudder HS Mathis isn't related to Johnny, well I don't know that for certain, yet she's a hit as you're probably Googling right now yet she is so poised no matter what position she plays but she's the straw that stirs the drink and with amazing body control, her acrobatic shots get my adrenaline going as well as her long ball shooting yet taking off the dribble and hitting teammates with "no looks" is a norm [player_tooltip player_id="136332" first="Kayla" last="Presley"] (DBK Premier) San Marcus HS Presley, I'm not doing the Elvis comparison, well yes I am because at times when she wants to take the game over "Don't Be Cruel" certainly applies because she has that explosiveness to just leave defenders stuck and cemented while she can also create her shot off the dribble and drop the mid to long-range. Presley plays within herself and also can get hers in the flow [player_tooltip player_id="200737" first="Lashiya" last="Fowler"] (AD ElitePeterson) Pflugerville Connally HS Fowler fouled up a lot of defensive strategies to contain her, I'm on this morning, but to say she was hot would have blistering added as she blows by defenders with the ball and finishes strong, after contact but in the open court, forget about it because she has a nice crossover as well as a change of pace but if you give her too much room, that mid to long will hurt you [player_tooltip player_id="200742" first="Shayla" last="Dede"] (SA Lady Hoops) Taft HS Dede was just hard to handle all day long and I'm talking both ends of the court. Her pressure defense and quick hands, combined with her quickness were layups galore but that quickness also aided her in both the half and full court as she attacked the rim relentlessly and finished after the lick over and over. She's strong and her pull-up jumper is strong as well Dezaree Walker (Houston Skyrise Elite Edmond) Angleton HS Walker isn't on her because she plays high school ball for one of the best PG's to ever come out of the Houston area, she's on here because she can just flat out shoot the ball, at times looking like she's playing "around the world" because she can drop it from everywhere bta. Her midrange is solid, she also can take defenders off the dribble but she doesn't get flustered, and that poise is always good to have
