Below is a list of point guards to pay attention to on the newly released rankings. These players are floor generals and successfully run offenses for their team.
#12 Mia Morel Mia Morel 5'7" | PG Madison Memorial | 2021 State WI | Madison Memorial | WI Lakers | 5’7
Morel is a do-it-all point guard with good strength and build for the position. She possesses impressive athleticism which allows her to hand in the air and make adjustments when defenders contest. Her vertical leap is something to watch- especially when she shoots from deep, she’s very difficult to defend. She is a high energy guard that will bring loads of high tempo to the court; she has the potential to be a legitimate spark plug in the college game. Morel excels in a fast system that gets out and runs the break. Madison Memorial was a quick, athletic team that played fast all year- this is exactly where Morel will see most of her success. Her fast break skills are next level, shown by her dishing the ball to cutting teammates or knowing when to take it herself and finish. Morel is committed to California Baptist.
#33 Alexis McNack Alexis McNack 5'9" | PG Milwaukee Lutheran | 2021 State WI | Milwaukee Lutheran | WI Shooters | 5’9
McNack is new to the rankings this time around and is proven to be one of the best shooters and overall scorers in her high school conference. Her explosiveness and quick feet make her very hard to stay in front of as a defender. McNack will jump with anyone- she is fearless on the floor. Confidence is imperative to be successful at the next level; therefore for her to have it at her experience level is remarkable. McNack shows elite change of pace skill; the ability to go from slow to fast or fast to slow can dismantle even the best defenders. She plays with a creativity that is rare at the high school level. She is often making the highlight play.
#53 Sara Kasar Sara Kasar 5'6" | PG Oak Creek | 2021 State WI | Oak Creek | WI Impact | 5’6
Kasar is a springy athlete that excels at the point guard position but can also play off ball as a shooting guard as well. Her athleticism for her size is unmatched, and she’s very tenacious when targeting the ball, especially in mid air. She’s a lights out shooter and is confident from far behind the arc. Her fundamentals are there- you can clearly see Kasar spends a lot of time perfecting her handles and craft. She has great on court vision and her passing into the post is elite. She pushes the ball up the court, creating what seems to be a fast pace offense but then is completely composed and patient in the half court. A great floor general overall, Kasar can certainly heat up from deep as well. She is committed to UW Parkside.
#35 Aaleyah Jones Aaleyah Jones 5'5" | PG Milwaukee Riverside | 2021 State WI | Milwaukee Riverside | Playground Elite | 5’5
Jones is a tremendous ball handler and a true point guard; she pounds the ball and always has her head up. Jones very rarely has to look where she’s going in order to get to her spots- this is a testament to her fluidity with the ball. She’s not the fastest, but she can get to her spots with ease, those being the elbow areas and pretty much anywhere along the three point line. Jones has a quick and high release, which is imperative for her size. Her use of head and ball fakes force the defender to respect her shot. She definitely seems to be an offensive minded player, but she shows signs of having disruptive on-ball defense. Jones is an advanced playmaker- she finds open teammates and distributes very well in the lane. Vision and passing skills are underrated for her as well. Jones is strong with the ball, especially for her size; she’s not easy to bump off the ball because she plays low to the ground.
#55 Julia Hirt Julia Hirt 5'8" | PG Lake County Lutheran | 2021 State WI | Lake County Lutheran | WI Lakers | 5’8
Hirt is a dynamic, playmaking point guard with a high upside. She is great in the pick-and-roll scenario and possesses incredible operation skills. She can get to the screen, patiently pull up for a jumper, or find the screener on the roll very efficiently. She has very elite vision in general; she can easily make skip passes to the corner or across court to an open shooter. An aspect of her game that may go unnoticed is her ability to walk her defender down the lane, which is a testament to her control and confidence with the ball. She can simply initiate an isolation play and just calmly dribble her defender down into the lane without blowing by her. She has an innate ability to square herself up for her shot as well, both when driving and from the perimeter. This will benefit her shot development tremendously as she continues to get better.
