At the Arizona Top 250 Expo, we were introduced to a plethora of news faces - with expansive skills sets and different approaches to the game. As far as the forwards go, we saw a variety of players including the transitional bigs that are productive on the glass to the versatile forward who can spread the floor and run in transition. Lauren Cummings was more of the hybrid type as she ran the floor exceptionally well for someone her size and was a key player for her team. Gabby Lopez is an offensive juggernaut who can score at all three-levels who has the ability to grab rebounds off the glass at an excellent pace. Madeline Cesar is a serviceable forward who cleans up on the glass for second chance opportunities and is a great low-post scorer. [player_tooltip player_id="103345" first="Hailey" last="Johnson"] is a double-double threat who is blue-collar in her merits at the rim as a rebounder and scorer. [player_tooltip player_id="161679" first="Angie" last="Carroll"] is a work-horse whose approach to the game is refreshing as she grits and scraps at the forward spot. Lauren Cummings - Forward with a a great wingspan and covers a lot of ground with her strides. She played well in the half-court setting, teaming up with Kinsel on give and go’s - but perhaps her most enticing trait is her ability to command in transition as a point forward who demands attention and can kick the ball off to teammates. Had a significant 12 point, 7 rebound, 2 steal effort in which she had a great showing as a two way player. Gabby Lopez 2023 5’10" PF Bisbee HS - Forward with good size and offensive versatility as she scored off combinations of floaters, lay-ups, and a three pointer. Rebounded well on both ends with her physicality and timing. Engaged as an interior defender who brings size and grit. Made things happen and was productive when the ball was in her hands - didn’t need a lot of touches to contribute. Contributed 9 points, 7 rebounds, 1 block, and 1 steal. Madeline Cesar 2022 5’10" PF Ironwood Ridge HS - Forward with a lot of size and showed the ability to score at the rim with her length. Has a solid frame but is able to make it up and down the floor. Thrives in the half-court setting as a stationary scorer as well as on second chance opportunities. She contributed 8 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists playing a nice role as a back-up forward who produces. [player_tooltip player_id="103345" first="Hailey" last="Johnson"] 2022 5’11" PF JSerra HS - Big with size who plays with aggression and physicality, as she was a fierce rebounder particularly on the offensive end. Scores well at the basket due to these same characteristics as she demands presence with her size. Showed the ability to drive it to the basket as well, bolstered by her length. Good fluidity for someone her height - on both ends of the floor. Finished with 8 points and 8 rebounds in an efficient display. [player_tooltip player_id="161679" first="Angie" last="Carroll"] 2021 5’9" SF Xavier College Prep - Carroll is a forward with good size that is matched by her production on the glass as she is relentless on getting rebounds. She is big and strong, not afraid of contact which results in extra shots for her team. Was an extra push at the forward spot when she was on the floor for her squad. She had a 4 point, 7 rebound effort in which she contributed as a offensive rebounder who has good discipline and skills in the paint.
