Clutch Rose had its biggest test of the weekend in Arizona as they played a collected and determined team from the Adidas Circuit in that of Troop West 17U. This was a collection of players that brought a lot of athletic ability and skills to the table. In the first half, Clutch played with a spirited demeanor as they kept things close trailing 24- 28 at the half. In the second half, Troop West upped the ante, providing pressure in the half-court setting and making some impressive shots from deep. Clutch Rose ended up coming short 32 - 56 but there were certainly some hefty performance by individuals from the team based out of Beaverton, OR. [player_tooltip player_id="207822" first="Claryn" last="Keeney"] 2022 5’10" SG Clutch Rose/Westview HS - Keeney is a team oriented player that doesn’t major in one specific field, rather she is a jack of all trades. She hit one from deep and defended and played within the offensive scheme to the best of her abilities. Keeney helps on both ends of the floor as a smart and disciplined player. Contributed 5 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists. [player_tooltip player_id="158515" first="Charlotte" last="Richman"] 2022 5’6" SG Clutch Rose/Wilson HS - Richman is one of the more experienced and skilled players of this bunch and it showed against an extremely talented Troop West team. They pressured her and tested her in the second way, but she responded in a resounding way as a skilled and patient guard. Despite physical play, she was poised and helped run her team, relieving pressure and applied some as well with some huge three’s. Contributed 6 points, 2 rebounds, and 1 steal. [player_tooltip player_id="158564" first="Zoe" last="Borter"] 2023 6’0" SF Clutch Rose/Beaverton HS - Borter is a polished scorer who gets it done with a lot of determination and grit, as she isn’t afraid of initiating contact and has the strength to get through it. She sank one from deep, showing her range and had a number of impressive scores against several defenders in the paint. Contributed 12 points, 3 rebounds, and 1 assist in a spirited display against a very tough Troop West squad. [player_tooltip player_id="158544" first="Emma" last="Sixta"] 2023 5’10" SG Clutch Rose/Jesuit HS - Sixta’s shot wasn’t going down this game, but she found significant ways to contribute, particularly as a defensive stopper and rebounder as well as a facilitator. She is a witty guard who knows when and where to pass it to specializing in the assist to an open teammate alongside the perimeter. Contributed 5 rebounds, and 3 assists for Clutch. [player_tooltip player_id="158521" first="Sarah" last="Lamet"] 2022 6’4" C Clutch Rose/Tigard HS - Sarah’s biggest attribute is her size, as she is listed at 6’4” on the roster, she comes in and brings instant defensive presence with her size and wingspan. Offensively, she is a big raw but she has an incredibly silky smooth touch from ten feet out, aided by her sheer size. Contributed 2 points, 1 assist, 1 block as she provided relief in the paint for Spear. [player_tooltip player_id="158567" first="Lainey" last="Spear"] 2023 6’2" PF Clutch Rose/Beaverton HS - Spear is an incredibly fluid forward who can hang alongside the perimeter and make plays as well as mix it up in the middle. With her size combined with her IQ, she routinely makes passes to her teammates as at 6’2” she certainly draws a lot of attention. Rebounded well on both ends and found ways to score as well. Contributed an all-around 5 points, 4 rebound, 4 assist, 1 block, 1 steal effort for Clutch.
