Missouri Valley showed plenty of fight and determination in the postseason last year, dropping a one-point contest to Tri-Center. The Lady Reds enter 2020-21 with several returning players, but also the need to replace the likes of leading scorer Morghan Herman. Carlie Winchester posted 144 rebounds a year ago with 102 points and a team-high 30 blocks, Ella Myler, Olivia Guinan, Maddie Larson and Maya Contreraz all started at least one game and are back.

An unbeaten regular season was among the highlights of 2019-20 for MMRCU, but the Royals were left stunned in the regional semifinals by LeMars Gehlen. The Royals return several key members of that team including leading scorer Taylor Harpeanau. The junior posted nearly 16 points and over three assists per game, shooting 33 percent from the three-point line. [player_tooltip player_id="63616" first="Ellie" last="Hilbrands"], also a junior, is a standout on the glass having recorded 170 boards.

[player_tooltip player_id="165065" first="Jazlin" last="De Haan"] had quite the junior campaign, leading MOC-Floyd Valley in scoring and rebounding. De Haan averaged nearly 15 points a night, shooting just under 50 percent from the field. She also pulled down almost nine rebounds a night, including three on the offensive glass. Six other regulars return for MOC-Flody Valley including Claire Yaw, Taryn Nothem and Dakota Einerwodl. Winerwold knocked down 19 three-pointers and Nothem 12 last season.

Coming off a trip to the state basketball tournament, Montezuma will look to keep that momentum going. It will take some newcomers stepping up to fill the void lost by three key senior starters. Shanae Wetering, Dylan Holland and [player_tooltip player_id="64790" first="Elise" last="Boulton"] are back. Holland had 122 rebounds last year, Boulton knocked down a team-high 74 three-pointers and dished out 72 assists, and Wetering had 55 rebounds.
