The beginning of November means that basketball season is on the horizon. Preseason awards are being predicted and the teams are starting to prepare for another hard-fought season. This one is unorthodox but the top players will have to step up. Here, we begin by looking at the top players in the Big North.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="134639" first="Madison" last="Schiller"] (2022) | Ramapo</strong>
Schiller is not only one of the top players in the conference, but in the entire state. She burst onto the scene with 18 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 5.2 assists per game. She is also a thief on the defensive end with over four steals per contest. She can truly do it all and is a future DI player.
<strong>Katy Gashler (2021) | Westwood</strong>
Gashler was a double-double threat every time she stepped on the floor. She showed off her ability to rebound on both ends of the floor and take over a game offensively.
<strong>Taylor Hill (2021) | Passaic Valley</strong>
Hill will return as one of the top scorers in the Big North. She was a threat from the three-point line with 44 makes and was able to get to the free throw line and make 115. She has a knack of scoring the ball and knowing how to get the better of her defender.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="134623" first="A’Nyah" last="Barker"] (2021) | Immaculate Heart</strong>
Barker is a returning player who was named First Team All-Conference as a junior. She is a two-way player who can score at will and defend the opposing team’s top player. She will have to take an even bigger role for Immaculate Heart.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="134620" first="Janel" last="Moore"] (2021) | Paramus Catholic</strong>
Moore scored 380 points as a junior and she did it from all over the floor. She knocked down 47 three’s and was able to get to the free throw line with ease. Moore is a pure scorer and knows how to be the focal point of an offense.
<strong>Maureen Murray (2021) | Holy Angels</strong>
Murray scored a season-high 32 points in a two-point win over Tenafly midway through the season. She is a force downlow using her strength. Murray can score with contact and get to the free throw line for some easy ones.
<strong>Kayla Gonzalez (2022) | DePaul</strong>
Gonzalez is going to be one of the biggest breakout players this season. She showed great potential as a sophomore and will have a chance to put her game together during her years as an upperclassman. Gonzalez will take an increased role this season and run with it.
