Lauren Kohl Lauren Kohl 5'8" | CG Elkhorn South | 2022 State NE – CG – Elkhorn South
With one of the more well-rounded skillsets in the state, Lauren makes her presence felt in waves. Her excellent on-ball defense stands out the most, but she can dribble, pass, and shoot very effectively.
Kya Scott Kya Scott 5'7" | SG Broken Bow | 2022 State NE – PG – Broken Bow
Kya is an excellent shooter at the guard position, and because of this, she fits in well on- or off-ball. She has ironed out the footwork on several key perimeter shots. Her shooting stretches the defense, and she can then attack the space in the midrange with floaters and pullup jumpers.
Emily Hebenstreit Emily Hebenstreit 5'8" | PG Mead | 2022 State NE – PG – Mead
Emily was often the release valve for the Mead offense last season. Most of her 3-point attempts were created from kick-out passes, which took advantage of a collapsed defense. She shoots off her right hip, and her efficiency could improve greatly with a few small mechanical adjustments.
Addison Schneider Addison Schneider 6'1" | C Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family | 2022 State NE – C – Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family
A strong finisher through contact, and an imposing bully on the glass. Addison has excellent size that opposing teams rarely have the personnel to offset. You’ll rarely see her bobble a rebound attempt or an entry pass, because she has very soft hands in the paint.
Kinsey Hall Kinsey Hall 6'0" | SF Laurel-Concord-Coleridge | 2022 State NE – SF – Laurel-Concord-Coleridge
Kinsey is a nice shot-blocking option at the wing position. She moves her feet well while remaining vertical. She can absorb contact from the offensive player and stay glued. She can hit open threes when called upon, but will be limited in that area as long the hitch in her shot remains.
Abby Boyes Abby Boyes 5'10" | SG Bennington | 2022 State NE – SG – Bennington
The Bennington sharpshooter can make it from just about anywhere on the court. She can extend it several feet beyond the three-point line, which makes defenses scramble. She doesn’t need to be perfectly balanced to make it, either. She can pump fake, side-dribble, and shoot. She can jab-step before pulling up without losing any of her rhythm or energy. She shot about 7.5 threes per game, but I bet she can bump that up to 8-9 per game without losing much efficiency.
Caitlyn Ryan Caitlyn Ryan 5'10" | PF Papillion Lavista | 2022 State NE – PF – Papillion La Vista
The Monarch wing won’t amaze with athleticism or jaw-dropping plays, but she turns in efficient performances each time she steps foot on the court. Caitlyn is a decent finisher inside, and a very good rebounder. She poses a danger as a shooter, especially in semi-transition opportunties. She will often trail the ball and step into a clean catch and shoot three, while the big guarding her instinctively drifts into the lane.
Sarah Treffer Sarah Treffer 5'5" | PG Lexington | 2022 State NE – PG – Lexington
As a sophomore, Sarah led Lexington in points and assists, and was second in rebounds. The do-it-all point guard was the focal point of the offense, yet remained very efficient (40 percent from the field, 34 percent from three, and 70 percent from the free throw line).
McKinsey Long McKinsey Long 5'7" | CG Hastings | 2022 State NE – CG – Hastings
If I was making predictions on 15-16 year old players and their development (I try my hardest not to), I’d probably guess McKinsey will see a substantial jump in the rankings after her junior season. She has the tools to be a deadly offensive player: great ball-handling, excellent rim finishing, and adaptable shot-making ability at multiple levels.
Megan Chambers Megan Chambers 5'11" | PF Millard North | 2022 State NE – PF – Millard North
Megan shows excellent agility and quickness out on the perimeter, despite being 5’11″. The forward can take her defender off the dribble and score through traffic and contact. Millard North ran some high-low actions with Megan in the high post, and she flashed some passing ability in those scenarios, as well.
