This was one of those "down to the wire games" with several role players playing key parts be it Erica D’Souza who’s 3 got St Pius within one or her sister Nikita D’Souza who hit pull-up jumpers to ignite their runs and you can’t leave out Grace Lewis who just played within herself for the Panthers but on the flip, the Dragons had several players that played a part in their 51-50 win on the road like Madison Rogers who is one of those "never takes a play-off" players while Liv Anderson came up with a huge three in crunch time, also liked the freshman, Katie Rebrook’s poise and upside but here were the standouts St Pius Panthers Zachara Perkins-6’2 PG Perkins has turned it up, I remember watching her through the years coming to games with her mom, then seeing her for the first time in the 6th grade and the progression she has shown as well as what’s coming should put many on notice. She thinks the game, left me speechless over the summer hearing her analyze a team so she has definitely been attention yet she’s making defenses pay attacking finishing from the either right or left, with either hand and she’s dropping the three, she had a few last night for a double-double [player_tooltip player_id="158681" first="Breelyn" last="Sanborn"]-6’1 F Sanborn can score multiple ways, her go-to long ball is smooth and accurate and she does a good job creating her shot while being pressured but she also understands how important the midrange is and she can definitely get to her spot and nail it. She also comprehends how to go by defenders multiple ways, she can draw contact and finish after the lick but last night she had to battle in the paint for rebounds and she did a good job of doing that on both ends of the court Farren Donald-Wright-5’8 G Donald-Wright has one of those first steps that can leave a defender cemented to the court, she can do it in the halfcourt set and just turn the turbo on in the open court but while she attacked the rim countless times and finished, I also enjoyed seeing her create her shot and getting it off with a hand in her face. She has nice form, she elevates on the jumper and she has a quick release while going up yet she also does a couple of other things I really like, catch and shot and play the passing lane John Cooper Dragons Ajailah Ogiemwonyi-5’10 SF Ogiemwonyi is one of the fiercest rebounders in the area, the senior goes after everything and last night was no different as she’s adjusted from a force in the paint to shoot the ball facing the basket and her midrange game has opened up several options for her on the offensive end because she’s taking defenders from the wing or just straight down the middle and with her strength and athleticism she’s finishing after contact with ease but she doesn’t easy defensively as the pressure is steady coming at you Aalyssa Rogers-5’8 PG Rogers is known for making big plays and hitting big baskets in crunch time and her clutch performance in the last two minutes helped get them the win. She hit a turnaround pull-up jumper on the baseline to give them to go-ahead lead and after a Perkins basket, she attacked the rim and got fouled, icing the two free throws for the win however she has always been able to create her shot and the pressure has never bothered the senior, it only gets her going and unlike my mailman, she delivers on time again [player_tooltip player_id="134042" first="Jorynn" last="Ross"] -6’2 P Ross sophomore season is starting off strongly in the paint on the boards, I don’t know how many rebounds she had, probably close to 20 but what I like about her is that she stays with it off the rim, on both ends of the court and since following your shot seems to be a thing of the past, I definitely enjoy watching players do that as well as paying attention to where the ball is coming off of the rim. She has that "college-ready body" and is steadily improving her game which is going to be a force
