Final: NW Stars Navy 51 - NW Blazers Orange 44
NW Stars Navy played a brilliant game with the NW Blazers Orange in “The Bubble” to start things off in Session VI and escaped with a narrow victory over an elite program. The NW Blazers showcase the skills and abilities of five-star Oregon State commit Talia Von Oelhoffen who showed off why she is heading to Corvallis after her senior season. The game commenced on a [player_tooltip player_id="158517" first="Halle" last="Hageman"] feed into [player_tooltip player_id="158489" first="Truitt" last="Reilly"] followed by a Hageman find to [player_tooltip player_id="207819" first="Carly" last="Stone"] for three. [player_tooltip player_id="158545" first="Rhyan" last="Mogel"] found Truitt for a tough finish at the basket despite great defense to tie the affair at 7. Jazzy Davidson followed up by acrobatic finish followed by a coast to coast lay-up.
Hageman had a nice floater in the lane followed by a [player_tooltip player_id="158542" first="Kennedie" last="Shuler"] and-one. Shuler slipped past her defender baseline for a finish followed by a Stone to Shuler find for a triple. The two teams began rallying back and forth, which would be a theme for the remainder of the game. A [player_tooltip player_id="158542" first="Kennedie" last="Shuler"] find to [player_tooltip player_id="204583" first="Carly" last="Robb"] alongside the arc would put the NW Stars up by one at halftime 24-23 in what would be a thriller.
The second half would be a bit of a stalemate with a mix of turnovers from both squads and fruitless trips to the other end of the court. Scores would be difficult to find, but at the end of regulation both teams would find a way to score when it mattered. [player_tooltip player_id="158542" first="Kennedie" last="Shuler"] would start the second half with another baseline slip and Jazzy Davidson would follow with a nice left handed finish. Shuler would score off a nice teardrop. A Mogel three-pointer would tie the game. Reilly would find [player_tooltip player_id="207819" first="Carly" last="Stone"] for a huge three-pointer that would put them up 41-40 with 1:15 to go - Hageman would sink two free throws to put them up 43-40.
The NW Blazers had one last chance to make it all 94 feet of the court and they looked no further than their best player in Talia Von Oelhoffen. With everything on the line, she got a clean look at the basket - guarded by [player_tooltip player_id="158489" first="Truitt" last="Reilly"] and Jazzy Davidson - fell to the ground as she sank a tough 18 footer despite excellent defense. She sank the extra point calmly as the two teams were headed to overtime tied at 43.
The extra session played similar to the end of regulation as Shuler had another slip baseline for the first score as [player_tooltip player_id="158489" first="Truitt" last="Reilly"] sank two free throws. NW Stars Navy would play game management as [player_tooltip player_id="158517" first="Halle" last="Hageman"] calmly sank four free throws as they would hang on to take this game in a stunning 51-44 manner over some tremendous competition.

Breakdown:
[player_tooltip player_id="158542" first="Kennedie" last="Shuler"]
The elusive soccer/basketball star showed that if it ain’t broke - don’t fix it. She has a quick first step that she employed while going baseline and is a tremendous finisher in this position - as she also had a nice finish around the rim without facing the basket. She displays great proprioception as far as understanding where the rim is relative to her body. Shuler was a consistent cog as an efficient scorer that provided buckets when her team severely needed it throughout spurts in the entirety of the game. Shuler’s 14 points were a very big reason why they hung around and survived a tough tenure with the NW Blazers.
Hageman: Clutch Free Throws
Hageman is the electric, dynamic floor general in transition we have all come to know, but her biggest contribution to the game came at the charity stripe. She sank two huge free throws at the end of regulation to put the NW Stars up by two and hit four free throws in the extra session to help put a lid on the game. Halle is an exceptional shooter from all over the floor, but displayed a gritty, disciplined approach to it when she calmly went six from six from the free-throw line when everything depended on it.
Great Overall Team Effort
[player_tooltip player_id="158545" first="Rhyan" last="Mogel"] continued to show her resilience on the defensive end as someone who plays with a high motor and is consistently tuned in, with her 5 point, 4 rebound, 2 assist, 3 steal effort. [player_tooltip player_id="158489" first="Truitt" last="Reilly"] was a defensive juggernaut in a 8 point, 7 rebound effort where she was also an established offensive rebounder. Jazzy Davidson had some impressive finishes with a nice 7 point, 3 rebound, 2 block performance. [player_tooltip player_id="207819" first="Carly" last="Stone"] had the dagger that put them up in regulation but also provided as an all-around catalyst in her 6 point, 2 rebound, 2 assist effort.
