Every great team needs good players to star in their role and that’s what Johnson did tonight. The soccer standout is a key part of Edmond Memorial’s hounding defense, with ball pressure and deflections. While also helping to provide a calming presence as a primary ballhandler, especially in the closing stages of the contest. But when needed too she also provided a scoring punch, finishing well with either hands at the rim. And even knowing when to reject a ball screen and go get the bucket herself.

Perhaps the most poised player on the court at any time for Edmond Memorial, the future UTSA Roadrunner soccer player totaled nine points in her teams’ championship game victory. Her speed in the open court is deadly as she consistently beat every defender down the floor. She also made man defense near impossible for Lincoln with her ability to utilize her speed in close quarters and break free of her defender. Her timely shooting came in clutch, as did her toughness. She is unafraid to drive the lane and take the beating that comes with facing the big bodies inside. She had several “and-1’s” during the championship game and is a good free throw shooter.

The Edmond Memorial floor general was another prospect who never lost her chill. She was quiet in the first half, but kept popping up in the final 16 minutes with big scores, gathering up a loose ball or other plays on the defensive end and helping to handle the frantic pressure and trapping Lincoln employed during their comeback attempts.

Addy was the best player for Memorial on Tuesday night and it wasn’t even close. She was the one doing all of the little things for the Bulldogs and she never stopped. Johnson is a soccer commit to UTSA and the toughness it takes to play soccer at the D-I level was on full display as she repeatedly put herself in harms way, diving on the floor, stepping in front of driving players. It was clear to see that Addy wanted it. More than that, while Sand Springs and their defense worked very hard to get Edmond Memorial out of rhythm and limit their passing, Johnson continued to work within her coach’s game plan. She ended the night with six points, four in the fourth quarter.

earned All Tournament honors. Addy is super quick guard that has a very nice transition pull up jumper. She aggressively attacks the rim finding several different ways to score. Impressive with her on the ball pressure keeping the offensive player from getting to the paint. Addy is a very solid player that does everything to help her team be successful.

Addy Johnson is a hard nose player that gives 100% effort every time she steps on the floor. She doesn’t require the ball very much but when it is in her hands, good things happen. Defensively she will guard the opposing teams’ best player and effectively slow them down. She is locked and will play physical if needed. She can shoot the ball from deep, can attacks the basket, and finishes at the rim.
