Capitol Conference: Stock Rising Guards 
Below is a list of guards who are making noise and proving that their stocks are rising soon into the season. Each of these guards have shown glimpses of how elite they will be the rest of the season and beyond. This list consists of guards in the Capitol conferences.
Capitol North: Lake Mills, Lakeside Lutheran, Lodi, Columbus, Poynette, Watertown Luther Prep.
Capitol South: Belleville, Cambridge, Marshall, New Glarus, Waterloo, Wisconsin Heights.
Hadley Walters | Poynette | 5’7 Sophomore
Walters had a very impressive performance against a tough Columbus squad this season. A versatile guard who can give 100% on both ends, Walters is a player to keep an eye on. She has a patient and well constructed shot that will definitely give her some consistency behind the arc. She showed glimpses of being a high pressure defender as well. In the win over Columbus, Walters finished with 14 points.
Taylor Stenklyft | Cambridge | 5’6 Junior
Stenkylft has been stepping into a leadership role as her season progresses. She’s been able to put up some impact numbers for her team and shown some huge improvements on both ends of the floor. Her speed on defense and ability to alter shots and passes is impressive. She gives 100% on the floor and seems to be comfortable playing a lead guard position. She is averaging nearly 9 points per game this season. In a game against Lakeside Lutheran, Stenklyft finished with 11 points.
Taylor Roughen | Lake Mills | 5’6 Senior
A floor general for this Lake Mills team, Roughen is so confident with the ball. She has terrific handles and is not frazzled by a lot of defensive pressure. She has great on court vision and does really well finding her teammates open. She’s been a spark plug for this team so far and has proven that when she gets hot there isn’t much other teams can do to cool her down. Her three point shot is smooth and precise. She is averaging nearly 14 points per game for Lake Mills. In a win over Columbus, Roughen scored 21 points while shooting 73% from the floor.

The senior has put on a show in some big games so far this season. An impressive 25 point game in a victory over Cambridge, Benson proved how lethal she can be on the offensive end. Her ability to create a shot for herself as well as knock down off the pass is very difficult to stop. She is averaging nearly 14 points per game this season. A key defender for New Glarus as well, Benson is very comfortable guarding the opposing team’s top guard.
Mikenna Boettcher | Columbus | 5’4 Sophomore
The sophomore has really stepped into a much larger role this season and has been so successful in doing so. She is averaging nearly 12 points per game. She utilizes her ball handling so well to get passed the initial defender and finish strong in the lane. She’s a high energy guard that understands how to be a shifty attacker and change speeds when attacking the rim. In a win over Poynette, Boettcher scored 15 points for her team.
Lauren Paulsen | Watertown Luther Prep | 5’11 Senior
The senior is such a key player for this team. She’s a player who has great skills and athleticism. Paulsen has a high ceiling and as her stock continues to rise she will be well suited for the next level. Working alongside some of the conference’s best post players, Paulsen does well stepping in and playing the guard position. She has handles and quickness to do so, and her length only makes her that much more impressive. Her ability to attack the lane and finish over smaller defenders is fantastic. Paulsen can knock down the shot behind the arc as well. She is averaging nearly 8 points per game. In a game against Winnebago Lutheran, she finished with 15 points.
Ava Foley | Belleville | 5’7 Junior
The junior has been a consistent threat for Belleville. She has a great feel for the game and plays with tremendous energy. She is very impressive in transition play and did well finding her post players within the offense. Foley doesn’t force much on offense but knocks down the open shot when her team needs her. She’s strong when attacking and has proven to do well drawing the foul in the lane. She is averaging 10 points per game this season.
