Bakersfield Bound Tournament CA Standouts Pt. 2

With the high school basketball regular season temporarily on hiatus, various grassroots events have popped up to help fill the void in the meantime. One of those events, the Bakersfield Bound Tournament hosted by Bound Sports, was held a second session a couple of weekends ago in addition to the one in November. Various AAU teams were in attendance at the event including several from California. Here’s a look at some of the players who had strong showings at the tournament and could have raised their stock a little bit. <strong>1. [player_tooltip player_id="103347" first="Hannah" last="Stines"] - Troy 2021</strong> Stines is capable of playing both guard positions. She’s a player who can find that balance between scoring and playmaking. She’s a very crafty playmaker with great court vision. She sucks the defense in and dishes out assists with ease. Can find teammates on the break or in halfcourt sets. Scoring wise, she can put the ball on the floor and she’s a crafty finisher at the rim. A good rebounding guard and wing defender as well. <strong>2. [player_tooltip player_id="162837" first="Nseije" last="Ortiz"] - Porterville 2022</strong> Ortiz is a solid point guard who plays with good pace. She keeps her head up while dribbling and sees the floor while throwing bullet passes to sprinting teammates. Her vision in transition is impressive. She can break down defenses off the dribble and get to the rim, comfortable and under control against defensive pressure. The lefty shooter is also a sniper from three-point range. <strong>3. Erica Hayden - Bakersfield 2022</strong> Hayden is a forward who can score in multiple ways. She can handle the ball and get to the rim. She can step out and shoot from three-point range and she squares up well with great shooting mechanics. She’s strong too and can power her way through smaller defenders in the post. Good defensive player who steps in to take charges as well as applies pressure on ball. <strong>4. Isabella Pearson - Troy 2022</strong> Pearson a good wing scorer. She’s a lights out three-point shooter. She can pull-up from three in transition or she can shoot from three off the dribble in the halfcourt. She can move without the ball too and get herself open from the perimeter. Uses screens well to free herself. She runs the break well either as a ball-handler or as a finisher.
