My Saturday game had the Village School playing at Lutheran North, I talked about [player_tooltip player_id="65876" first="Jada" last="Malone"] (Texas) [player_tooltip player_id="136323" first="Tymberlin" last="Criswell"] (SMU) and Aiken Semones (Hardin Simmons) not to forget sophomore sensation [player_tooltip player_id="96125" first="RyLee" last="Grays"] and last night, Houston Christian [player_tooltip player_id="97916" first="Amani" last="Bartlett"] (Syracuse), as well as sophomores [player_tooltip player_id="96127" first="D’Asia" last="Thomas"] and [player_tooltip player_id="134031" first="Jalayah" last="Ingram"], set the tone as their version of the "Big Three" yet in both games, others stood out and played their parts in their team’s victory The Village School [player_tooltip player_id="135359" first="Sydney" last="Ward"] Ward isn’t really a role player, she has been a #D1Lock since I saw her in middle school yet had a different jersey on but the important thing, for me, is that I was right, yet the important thing for her is she showed she could score in the flow after being hit with women "questionable" calls but nevertheless, the 3 ball, the pull-up from midrange, her attacking the basket as well as playing the passing lane, she’s "long and athletic" so she made her presence felt when she was on the court Karlie Sampson-5’6 G senior Sampson is coming back from an injury yet if I hadn’t typed it and you saw her, you wouldn’t know because she still plays with that energy that caught my eye when she was in middle school and her tenacity on defense gave The Village a major boost yet she also did a good job attacking the basket and finishing as well as creating her shot for the midrange Elizabeth Walton-5’6 G sophomore Walton has always shown she could play within herself and fill in many blanks that are missing yet she has a knack for flipping the switch and put up numbers, she has given me 5 legitimate "and one" highlights this club season, in 2 games yet her floater going baseline was highlight ready itself and with her 2 younger sisters, Lyllian who can score and Victoria who is going to "set it off" cheering her own, Liz handled the pressure with ease Houston Christian Kayla Mackel-5’11 G/F junior Mackel had the opposing coach yelling "shooter" every time she ran the baseline and he was right, she definitely has a nice stroke and even more appealing, she’s a big guard that can shoot it so watching her "catch and shoot" as well as create her shot under pressure, she did a nice job of putting it on the floor and showing the midrange as well as attacking the rim, she definitely gave them options as a viable scorer Courtlyn Cameron-6’0 SG/F sophomore Cameron impressed me with her size and agility almost immediately and I speak about players playing the passing lane, it’s one of my pet peeves when I don’t see it done, and she did a good job reading the defense. She showed her athleticism attacking the rim from various spots, this includes handling the ball after the steal and driving to the basket or making the pass Scarlett Ann Du Vigneaud-6’0 C sophomore Du Vigneaud has a good frame and understands how to use it, that’s great yet she also does a good job rebounding on both ends of the floor and moved her feet on defense. She kept the ball high, she understands how and when to switch and she also kept the ball high but her upside is intriguing
