The 2024 class here in South Florida is very good. [player_tooltip player_id="217668" first="Gianna" last="Corbitt"] is ranked No.1 in our rankings out of Blanche Ely. The Tigers are 14-1 and just took down St. Thomas Aquinas in the Big 8 Championship Game. Following Corbitt is four other area players in the Top 10. Moreover, the Top 25 features six additional players in the region. This class should be fun to watch as it continues to develop down the line.
Let’s look at some other players outside of the Top 25 I think you should keep an eye on...
[player_tooltip player_id="244132" first="Izabella" last="Molina"] - Doral Academy (PH. 74)
[player_tooltip player_id="244132" first="Izabella" last="Molina"] is already doing damage for the Firebirds. The 6-foot-3 center is averaging 8.6 points and 10.2 rebounds per game on 47 percent shooting from the field. Moreover, Molina has grabbed ten or more boards seven times. It should come as little surprise she has dominated around the glass given her size. However, it is impressive she is putting up this kind of production in her freshman season. Against North Miami, Molina had 16 points, 13 rebounds and three blocks. The more repetitions she receives should see her development skyrocket.
[player_tooltip player_id="221703" first="Kaliyah" last="Morales"] - Miami Country Day (PH. 49)
[player_tooltip player_id="221703" first="Kaliyah" last="Morales"] plays on one of the best teams in the state in Miami Country Day. The Spartans currently hold a 16-3 overall record with 2021 Andrea Daley leading the way. The 5-foot-7 point guard has adequate size and length for the position. Her experience in the Spartans system should only help her development. I would like to see her shot and finish improve, but her potential is evident.
[player_tooltip player_id="221696" first="Annalise" last="Lindsay"] - Palmer Trinity (PH. 42)
The Falcons should be a good team for the next couple of seasons. Palmer Trinity has no juniors or seniors on its current roster. One of their young players is [player_tooltip player_id="221696" first="Annalise" last="Lindsay"]. The 5-foot-10 forward is averaging eight points and 8.3 rebounds per game through 16 contests. Moreover, 63 of her 133 recorded rebounds have come on the offensive end. Against Somerset Academy Silver Palms, Lindsey had 11 points and 13 rebounds. Her further experience should prove dividends on the court in coming years.
[player_tooltip player_id="221674" first="A’Zarriah" last="Brown"] - Flanagan (PH. 27)
[player_tooltip player_id="221674" first="A’Zarriah" last="Brown"] is a small point guard with a big game. The 4-foot-11 Brown leads the Falcons averaging 10.3 points, 4.5 assists and six steals per game via latest available statistics. Brown is a quick player that works on both ends of the floor. The fact she records a high volume of steals shows me she doesn’t take plays off and has quick hands.
Aylana Mergilles - Westminster Academy (PH. 39)
Aylana Mergilles is a player with size and versatility for the Lady Lions. The 5-foot-10 guard/forward has good athleticism and plays strong defense. Her ability to play a number of positions adds to her value. Therefore, she can create matchup problems and open up shot opportunities for her teammates on the perimeter. Mergilles is going to be a factor in the area for years to come.
