Mt. Spokane (16-1 before the game) has spent much of the season ranked number one or two in the state for 3A, but the big question was how would they respond after a surprising blowout loss to Central Valley. University came into the season with extremely high hopes of competing for a 4A state title with a few transfers and a solid returning core. "U-High" came into the game 13-4, suffering just a three point loss last week to Central Valley. The game was played at University, but the home court advantage did not prove to be enough, as Mt. Spokane had a couple of spurts in the second half that changed the course of the game. Mt. Spokane used timely three point shooting and solid defense in the second half to hold University to just 49 points, while scoring 64 themselves. Both teams are serious contenders come playoff time in their respective class and that is thanks to the amount of prospects present on each team. 2020 Kinsley Barrington, 6'1, PF, University HS- A strong-bodied forward that can finish inside with her left hand. She didn't score at her average rate in this game, but she brings a rebounding and shot blocking presence inside. Kinsley will be headed to Southern Utah University. 2020 CarolAnn Edwards, 5'11, PF, University HS- Left-handed forward that will battle inside and rebound the basketball. She's had multiple double digit scoring nights this season and brings a consistent effort level. 2020 Ellie Boni, 5'9, PG, University HS- The Division 1 recruit scored her 1000th career point and 18 points in this game. She was hot in the first half, scoring 14 of her team-high 18 points. She does a good job of drawing fouls and getting a lot of free points at the line. 2020 Tyler Mccliment-call, 5'10, G, University HS- Despite scoring below her average, you can see the skill level is there. She has solid footwork into her pull up jump shot and is being recruited at the Division 1 level. 2020 Jacksen Mccliment-call, 5'10, G, University HS- Jacksen finished the game with 9 points and displayed a solid in between game. Along with her twin sister, she is being recruited at the Division 1 level. 2019 Megan Taylor, 6'1, C, University HS- The 6'1 F/C had a solid game scoring 9 points and showed some range hitting a three point shot as well. Megan will be playing at Whitman College next season. 2020 Jayda Noble, 5'11, G, Mt. Spokane HS- The super-athlete was the best rebounder and defender on the floor, as usual, pulling down a game high 13 rebounds. She hit outside shots and scored inside. Jayda will be playing at the University of Washington in a couple years. 2019 Emily Nelson, 6'1, F, Mt. Spokane HS- The bruising forward brings a consistent rebounding and physical presence. She had a below average scoring game for her, but she limited U-High's leading post scorer to just two points. She will be suiting up for Saint Martin's University next year. 2019 Averi Adams, 5'9, PG, Mt. Spokane HS- The senior guard had a very good game. She displayed a high basketball IQ and a knack for hitting open 3's, knocking down multiple outside shots. 2021 Tia Allen, 5'11, G, Mt. Spokane HS- The All-State Volleyball player played limited minutes, but she's a rebounding threat and a good defender. She will be an important piece for the Wildcats moving forward. 2021 Niveya Henley, 5'11, G, Mt. Spokane HS- The left-handed Division 1 recruit scored in spurts, finishing the game with 18 points and 4 made threes. 2019 Aspyn Adams, 5'8, G, Mt. Spokane HS- The super shooter scored a game high 20 points. She stretches the defense with her shooting ability. Loyola Marymount University will be her destination for college ball.
