Breakdown:
Skoro & Hageman
[player_tooltip player_id="207820" first="Mia" last="Skoro"] and [player_tooltip player_id="158517" first="Halle" last="Hageman"] are two integral pieces for NW Select. Skoro is the team oriented super-glue player who is incredibly gritty and finds ways to make plays all across the board. Hageman is the dynamic scorer who effortlessly makes shots, saving her best for the biggest moments. Skoro had an exclamation point at the end of the first half with a much needed bucket to keep them within striking distance going into the second half and was a key piece of their second half run as she helped rebound and had a huge and-one to stop their scoring slump early in the second half. Hageman would single handedly bring them over the hump as she sank two back to back threes, with the second giving them a one point lead in an incredibly close game. Both players certainly made their mark on a close and highly contested contest.
The Big Three
[player_tooltip player_id="158545" first="Rhyan" last="Mogel"], [player_tooltip player_id="158542" first="Kennedie" last="Shuler"], and Jazzy Davidson are quite the trio for NW Select as they each bring eclectic talents and skills for their club in novel ways. Mogel is the activated two-way player who is rugged in her efforts and now has shown strides as a three-point shooter. [player_tooltip player_id="158542" first="Kennedie" last="Shuler"] is a competitor who made several big and unselfish plays throughout the game, whether it was finding teammates in scoring position or saving loose balls. Jazzy Davidson has grown into a versatile role for NW Select Navy as an eclectic scorer who knows how to find teammates in optimal positions as well as provide a natural rim protector.
Great Team Win
Everyone certainly played their role in this one and every point mattered in such a close contest, so nothing went unnoticed in this one. [player_tooltip player_id="158551" first="Annie" last="Koenig"] had a superb shooting spurt early in the first half to keep them with Baroness EBO early on as she had a nice mid-range jumper followed by a three. [player_tooltip player_id="158553" first="Allie" last="Mead"]’s little floater in the lane came at a moment where NW Select needed every opportunity to keep up with their adversary. [player_tooltip player_id="207819" first="Carly" last="Stone"], the dynamic scorer and defender, led things off in the game with a three of her own. The NW Select truly had a team effort in a big way as the club played tremendously, saving the last for best in the 2021 HoopSource Presidents’ Day Showcase.
